The courts can only rule on the constitutionality of an issue. They can’t change the constitution.

Why not? The US Supremes say that the US Constitution means whatever they want it to mean, and if they can do it at the federal level why can't the CA court do the same thing at the state level?

When the U.S. Supreme Court overrules the citizens of California they have only themselves to blame for voting for a president who will nominate judges that will declare their Christian values unconstitutional.

A vote for marriage amendment isn't worth a flying sack of $^!# when liberals own judiciary, executive, and legislative, aw hell they own everything now. But you voted for marriage!

Nonsense. Gay marriage hasn't passed legislatively in one place in this country. The Democrats at the Federal level aren't going to touch the issue.

When the U.S. Supreme Court overrules the citizens of California

The Supreme Court is the same now as it was before Obama was elected. As long as Scalia, Alito, Roberts, Thomas and Kennedy remain on SCOTUS, the court can't move to the left.

I am with you Great Grandma! However, I don’t want the government to tell Churches and other institutions what a marriage is. And you are right, it is a way for people to get government benefits like married couples do and it is an issue being used to stop electing Republicans and there has to be a different way to approach it so we can get normal people elected again who are not so far to the left that it scares everyone. By the same token, those who enter the same types of contracts should know what a property seperation is like when the dissolution comes or when their partner goes bankrupt and assets of the union come into play. We have a saying my family. . . be careful of what you ask for. . . you may get it and I don’t think many of these people have thought it through as to what that means.

YES!!! The homosexual activists can no longer claim that the public accepts their dangerous lifestyle. We, the voters, have spoken loudly and clearly once again. The fake homosexual marriages were erased during the night and the sanctity of marriage restored. I am sad that McCain lost, but filled with joy that we successfully beat back the sodomite agenda. The voters have rejected homosexual marriages twice now in huge numbers so I hope this will be the end of it for a long time.

marriage is about the future of society. society rewards the institution NOT the individual.

civil unions are just a statutory convenience for adults who wish to cohabitate and publicly proclaim themselves as recreational sex partners.
