"There's no excuse for saying 'we've got to keep pumping carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere", he told Reuters by telephone, adding that the cooling was projected to start in 10,000 to 100,000 years.

Having put this through the disgronificator, which I set to li-academia, what he is really saying is, "I am not part of the conservative deniers cabal, so you should really, really fund my research."

Meterologists cant acurately predict the weather 24 hours from now but they can somehow acurately predict the weather ten or 20 years from now.

Wow! what a difference a little thing like an election makes.

Lobbyists ok
Taxes put off
Community Service in the mode
global cooling considerations
Iran is not a 'little' country
Now have to save BIG business /unions
daughters to attend private school

"There's no excuse for saying 'we've got to keep pumping carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere",...

Oh I don't know about that. Here are a few off the top of my head:

- It's a product of resipration. I intend to keep pumping.

- Burning mined hydrocarbons is the most environmentally friendly, scalable source of energy other than nuclear power.

- The atmosphere's temperature response to CO2 is in the worst case logarithmic, meaning we'll have to get to 3800 ppm to double the current effect (if there is one).

“we’ll have to get to 3800 ppm to double the current effect (if there is one).”

I wish they would gwt their s*it together and stop the global cooling that has been going on for the last 10 years!!

Ignoring the “greenhouse effect”, there are still pretty serious health concerns regarding what we are breathing. There’s no reason to close the door on discussing what we put in the air just because the Left has pushed “global warming” on us.

Well, this is good. Maybe the dolts in DC will be too busy staying alive to worry about passing any more laws and raising any more taxes, let alone building their “Domestic Security Force” (what the H*LL is THIS??).

Well, I'm not sure what money tree this guy is driving up, but we are actually OVERDUE for a real Ice Age by around 2000 years. He's saying the next won't be for another 10,000 years? Making it inexplicably 12,000 overdue?

So I give absolutely no credence to a person who says the next one will be that far into the future.

The new Ice Age could come faster than 10,000 years!

Just ask the Woolly Mammoths!

There is a vast decrease in the suns activity and I believe that that would have more to do with "Global Warming/Cooling" than ANYTHING we as humans could do!

In fact, if you watch this video you will see that human produced green house gasses are actually helpful (if only a little). Look for yourself!

What are the ill effects of breathing CO2 - at even 3 times, or 30 times, or 300 times its current level?

ALL coal plants in the US are filtered and screened - there are NO harmfull items released. 8<)

(A little bit a radiation from the embedded Uranium, of course. )

When my mail order nuclear power plant arrives, I’ll feel much better.

an Ice Age starting in as little as 10,000 years

I'm not worried but those of you who intend to cryogenically freeze yourselves then thawed out centuries from now should be concerned....

CO2 is plant food. It makes plants grow bigger and stronger.

The planet could face a freeze worse than an Ice Age starting in as little as 10,000 years, giving future societies a headache the opposite of coping with global warming, scientists said on Wednesday.

Nostalgia for the disaster-du-jours of the 70s, I see...

Love the cover painting by Lou Feck. I think he did a near-identical one (it looked like his work) for a distaster novel called Fire a year or so later.

Just for kicks I download and play with the NOAA monthly temperature anomaly data. If you do a linear fit through the last ten years the result is positive by about 0.1 deg. C per decade. It’s not until January 2001 that the fits become negative for the global combined land and ocean data, and have remained so continuously since then. The inauguration of George W. Bush coincided with the end of global warming. ;^)

The often overlooked fact is that we are still in an Ice Age. It’s just that we are currently in an Interglacial Warm Period. Therfore, this study is no big revelation as the current Interglacial Warm Period will most certainly end some day.

AlGore has personally embarked on a mission to ensure global warming remains a viable theory for the salvation of his enterprise - er, for the planet...
