It has been interesting, since he released this statement Sunday, to read the hasty "qualifying" statements in the wave of reactions from those who respect him and look up to him, as they should and cannot help but do. He's the Dali Lama of Lunar Science.
They spend the first half of their statements "strongly disagreeing" with "Jack" over his truthful assessment of the sad state of American public education, and then there's the usual Party line on AGW, but they then fall over themselves showing respect for the only scientist ever to walk on the Moon.
"Jack" has paid his dues, and many of us were wondering what he was about to do when he resigned as head of NASA's Advisory Directorate about two weeks before the election.
Part of being 74, and without guile, is having "nothing left to lose."
He speaks, we listen, gladly.
Anyone interested in what Jack's been up to, for the past twenty years or so, would be well served by checking into his syllabus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the world's oldest Socialist hives, where Jack has operated freely, and on as close to pure science as anyone can ask.
Schmitt & Kulcinski, et al., and the Fusion Technology Institute, UWis-Mad.
His work on lunar morphology is breathtaking, and eye-opening. Worth the read. Skip over the "big words" if they are a problem for you, and maybe your eyes will be opened to our more hopeful future, and, in particular, why we had better stake out our place on the Moon a whole lot better than we have or end up becoming the Spain of that New World.
God Bless Jack Schmitt, may he live forever! Every Lunar amateur and planetary scientist knows in their hearts we are not worthy to shake the lunar dust from his sandals.
No one had more pure delight in being on the Moon, nor benefited more from that experience, or paid back more fully for their Field Trip to the Moon than Jack Schmitt.
GW is political spam. It will be -20 tonight.
[[Anthropogenic global warming is just about the easiest concept to debunk that is out there. That it has been so widely accepted as some kind of fact is a testimony to the skill that leftists and other control freaks exhibit in the field of propaganda. It is also a testimony to the increasing susceptibility of the public to such idiocies.]]
The MSM is behind htis propoganda as well as they were behind the Obama “Change” propoganda as well. The sheeple like to dive head first into this kind of crap, thus the election results and the global warming belief of many. It is as though the small majority of people in htis coutnry and world wide (Those who don’t bother to tyake hte time to do actual research into the bogus claims) WANT big government to take all their money- it’s as htough they are almost begging government to do so , and The Dems know htis and have concocted what amounts to one of hte biggest snake-oil scams to ever coem along- Trillions upon trillions of dollars are goign to be willingly given to hte governments all over hte world to ‘combat’ a totally natual cyclical event which we can in no way control nor alter- Sadly, the sheeple have bought into the idea that we cqan alter the climate- Every commercial practically calls for ‘going green’ to ‘help the climate’ these days- it’s a MASSIVE brainwashing campaign, and hte guillible people are goign to get exactly what they deserve- but hte only problem is that htose of us with enough common sense to investigate the ACTUAL FACTS will have to suffer needlessly right along with htem!
Senator Inhoffe has been presenting government with the FACTS for many years now, and they simply get sheved aside as though the FACTS don’t really exist,m and the MSM and big companies poised ot profit tremendously from this scam are pushing this rediculous agenda as htough there is no tomorrow
Not that I'm not glad that someone with cred has spoken out against the warming hoax...but how is this "power"? What power does the Planetary Society have?
The Planetary Society is a self-congratulatory org put together by retired astronauts to have meetings where they give awards to each other, pat each other on the back, and arrange to attend old astronaut funerals.
You make an excellent point. I stand corrected.

I think NASA GW parasites may have jumped the shark this week. Too many people this October in the South built their first fires in the fireplace, when they're used to waiting til Thanksgiving.
Schmitt for Governor 2010.
You can read any of these;
“Lost Moon” from Jim Lovell 7 Jeffrey Kluger
“Men From Earth” by Buzz Aldrin
Liftoff” by Michael Collins
“For All Mankind” by Harry Hurt
“Apollo” by Charles Murray & Catherine Bly Cox
“A Man on the Moon” author unknown
“The Last Man on the Moon” by Gene Cernan.
There is also a really nice movie called “For All Mankind”. It is photographed by and narrarated by those who flew the flights. One of my favorite space flicks.
Schmitt is a great guy. He was one of our Senators here in NM and was, unfortunately unseated by Jeff Bingaman. Bingaman is the guy that went on radio in Albuquerque preaching the virtues of the Fairness Doctrine. We in NM are really screwed. This election brought us a whole crop of RATS.
I don't know how to poll Al Shepard, Pete Conrad and Jim Irwin, -- all since passed. I have met a few and I am confident that the other nine would say about the same as I about the AWG scam ----
BS JUNK SCIENCE!
They were all highly educated in the sciences, but they also had the common sense necessary to accomplish real stuff, not just dreamer scenarios and computer models like these twerps who push the AWG nonsense.
BTW. All the surviving Apollo astronauts are in their 70s and 80s now. They are still my heroes after all these years. Those guys had big stones! They are the best this country has produced and sadly, they seem to be a passing breed of men that we will not see soon again.
LOL I was joking about the three moon walkers who are no longer with us. :-) As for the living, I’d trust Jack Schmitt’s judgement on the issue. There’s just not enough data to support it either way.
You are 100 percent correct. Thank you.
