They had a seismometer in a case in the front of one of the buildings at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho). You could see if there was any activity. Just about the time you thought you were watching some geological event unfold, feel the earth shaking, you would realize it was just a coed coming down the hall. As in: What is the difference between a Ricks College coed and a police car? It takes TWO police cars to block the road.

And it is the fools you should look out for. Lots of good riding out there. Until some fool comes blasting over a dune and wipes you out.Agreed. It doesn't matter how careful you are. Someone else can still nail you. The guy who sold me the XT250 at Action (Sheldon) was sporting a cast on his arm after he allowed a friend to ride one of his bikes at the dunes. His "friend" ran into him and broke his arm. Sheldon has been riding the dunes for years. It wasn't his own inexperience that nailed him.

The shake locations seem to be shifting north. One is now showing north of the lake. Next up, some areas with faults a bit further north.

Thanks. Even then, papers were tilted pretty far Left. Helen Thomas was at her younger liberal worst at UPI and the NYT was very liberal, just not quite as nutty as now. Things really went to hell after Watergate when all the J-school-trained young Marxists decided to “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” I’ve never been able to find that particular mandate in the First Amendment.

Makes sense. They’re all afflicted and they live quite comfortably. :^P
