The scientist obviously has it backwards. Fossil fuel is not only causing the earth to heat up, it is reaching the sun and increasing the sunspot activity.

“The scientist obviously has it backwards. Fossil fuel is not only causing the earth to heat up, it is reaching the sun and increasing the sunspot activity.”

Exactly, we need to send all the fire trucks on earth to the sun to put it out or at best, cool it down some.

From the article you posted:

“He displayed graphs which show no correlation between peaks and valleys in greenhouse gases and global warming and cooling periods over the years. Other graphs show that sunspot activity rose and fell along with global temperature changes.”

Hey that’s as good or better than Al Gore, the lawyer. Or Robert F. Kennedy, the former drug addict.

Global warming simply cannot be the sun's fault

Current view of the sun. Sunspots appear as dark spots in the picture. Or would, if there were any...

Cool real-time views of the sun are at this link:

A monthly listing of sunspot numbers going back to 1750 is here:

IMO, the shrill hysteria in reactions from both sides is due to pecuniary interests.

What, you mean there might be more than one influence on our climate? NAH! If it's not us melting the planet, then it must be solar variability freezing us!

Why, it couldn't possibly be solar variability as a major forcing with an overlay of CO2-induced warming, or a CO2-induced warming with some variability that gives colder spells!

</sarc>

The fact is, we're still unable to tell for sure, and we should keep from further crippling our economy regardless of the cause of the current climate change so we are better able to manage the changes that come, natural or not.

Will the coming Gore Minimum be more like the Dalton or Maunder?

It’s the difference between significant problems and a major, worldwide disaster.

...without modern tractors and other farm machinery, fertilizers, pesticides and medicines, crop and livestock production would plunge so far that a third of the world’s population could face starvation.

A hard truth...
