I order you to ignore all my posts from now on d:op
The article didn't say that or imply that.
They are speculating that life could possibly have been brought to earth from an asteroid or possibly a comet....Which after all, is a possibility.
If you have proof establishing that is not possible, I'd like to hear or see that proof or evidence.
Do you think it is possible to form life on an asteroid?
Yes. And I believe it is also possible that asteroids and comets in this universe, could possibly carry life forms that are or have seeded other planets. You bet. A massive impact into a planet that has life forms could embed themselves within an asteroid or comet..Fragments that were ejected could contain that life and possibly could multiply. I absolutely believe that is possible!
Again, if you have proof establishing that is not possible, I'd like to hear or see that proof or evidence.
Evolution and Christianity are perfectly compatible.
Jean S,
He wont answer any questions. I have asked him several times what his science background is. His reply: I ‘d like to keep that private.
My interpretation: He probably barely passed science in high school,if he passed it at all.
GGG reminds me of Jimmy Swaggart, who said that Mother Theresa wasn’t going to heaven because she wasn’t “saved”.
BZZZTTT...
Wrong answer. The burden of proof is on the one making the claims. If one is going to claim that and asteroid or comet could bring life to earth from outer space, they need to provide some evidence that it is possible to begin with.
Is this how you think that science is done? Make any half baked assumption you want and then demand that it be accepted as true or valid until disproved, and then throw it back on everyone else to all the work to prove it wrong while you don't provide anything to prove it right?
Please read the article..It never alleged it had proof, or claimed this was a fact. Sheesh!

Like Topsy, it just growed?
You lost me on that one. Please explain so my understanding might grow :o)
It is an expression from my childhood. Topsy was a little slave girl character in the novel Uncle Toms Cabin. Expecting that she was ignorant of God, she was asked who had made her. She answered; "I s'pect I just growed. Don't think nobody never made me." From that beginning the expression Like Topsy, it just growed. became an explanation for anything whose origin was something of a mystery, even if only for the moment. It was popular from about the time of The War Between The States until the Thirties or Forties. Its as good an explanation for the origin of life as any Ive heard from our Science friends. They spend most of their time denying any connection between the origin of life and Darwins Origin of Species, with the occasional vague reference to its being worked on.
That's the problem. Why are we expected to accept as fact every idea that comes down the pike from so-called scientists without evidence or ANYTHING to back it up, and everyone who disagrees with it is expected to disprove it.
When someone proposes a theory, they need to provide SOMETHING to back up their statements instead of throwing all the work into the laps of people who disagree. Otherwise, anyone can make any other half-baked statement and expect it to be taken seriously until someone else can disprove it.
Relax.... No one in this article is suggesting or expecting you to accept this as a fact.
But I'll tell ya what. There are some really, really smart people out there that are working really hard to search or earth like planets that are in perceived habitable zones.
In fact they just now launched the Kepler spacecraft.
(A very historical mission)

Overview of the Kepler Mission Kepler
... NASA's first mission capable of finding Earth-size and smaller planets around other stars.
Importance of Planet Detection
The centuries-old quest for other worlds like our Earth has been rejuvenated by the intense excitement and popular interest surrounding the discovery of hundreds of planets orbiting other stars.
There is now clear evidence for substantial numbers of three types of exoplanets; gas giants, hot-super-Earths in short period orbits, and ice giants. The following websites are tracking the day-by-day increase in new discoveries and are providing information on the characteristics of the planets as well as those of the stars they orbit: Extrasolar Planets Encyclopedia, New Worlds Atlas, and Current Planet Count Widget.
The challenge now is to find terrestrial planets (i.e., those one half to twice the size of the Earth), especially those in the habitable zone of their stars where liquid water and possibly life might exist.
The Kepler Mission, NASA Discovery mission #10, is specifically designed to survey our region of the Milky Way galaxy to discover hundreds of Earth-size and smaller planets in or near the habitable zone and determine how many of the billions of stars in our galaxy have such planets.
Thanks for the ping!
“GGG reminds me of Jimmy Swaggart, who said that Mother Theresa wasnt going to heaven because she wasnt saved.”
They have a scorecard. If you fail to meet their criteria, then you’re not a Christian, even if you think you are! There’s another clown here who has condemned the whole Catholic church to damnation—because he says so!
Enjoy the debate, but don’t expect any converts. In fact, it’s really not debate at all. More like recreational therapy.
Thanks for the pingi. I love these threads. So much luv, affectation, and understanding. I decided it best to just sit this one out, ‘til now. Hold it! Wait! What’s that? OMG! ANOTHER WINDMILL!!! Gotta GO...
Wrong answer.
I like your reply. This guy has some sort of religious belief in the impossible and no scientific background. Cosmic rays would have burned holes in DNA/RNA to make life impossible. The heat and cold in space would have destroyed it also. Thinking like his defies statistics and science. A statistical examination of asteroid life seeding Earth would make the impossibility of evolution look good.
This is an old theory and it’s meant to work on the simple minded (which includes most people). The idea is, if you push the creation of life either billions of miles away, or billions of years back in time, suddenly, the impossible becomes possible, that is, life springing from non-life. Sorry folks, this silly person will get his chance to explain his little pet theory to the One who spoke and the universe lept into existance.
Obama created the Universe? I am so relieved!:-)
Thanks for the education. Who knew Topsy’s ignorance would become a basic assumption in evolutionary biology!
