“Interesting chart just out of curiosity, has the IPCC commented on or explained or explained away how far their projections have been diverging from the actual? Have they noticed? ;-)”
The IPCC (and the US government, apparently) have taken the stance that global warming is a done deal - and don’t bother them with pesky facts! When scientists tout the “consensus” rather than producing data and studies, that’s a sign of a problem IMO. It doesn’t help that official government agencies are, at a minimum, practicing very poor science. I’m referring to the GISS surface temperature record, which is skewed to the warm side. I find it hard to believe it’s accidental, it’ll be interesting to see if anything ever comes out regarding scientific integrity or the lack thereof.
I’m hopeful that the temperature drop will be pronounced and prolonged enough to show the Emperor has no clothes. It’s all up to the vagaries of the Sun, of course.
The rest of us will be bringing warming blankets and hot cocoa to their beach-side Florida cabanas, under threat of death.
We may end up praying for global warming befor this is over.
“We may end up praying for global warming befor this is over.”
Keep an eye on the Canadian wheat crop this year...
since I am not a science whiz, I have a question for you all. Does the magnetic pull of the earth affect sunspots? Is there any truth to the talk I hear on discovery that the magnetic pull of the earth can “reverse”? And if so, would that affect the polar ice making the one side that was normally large smaller and vice versa?
May be dumb questions, but I could really help you all out if you need to know anything about breastfeeding.....:) I just know alot less about magnetic pulls and the like. Thanks!
The earth’s magnetic field is TINY in the astronomical sense. Has no effect on the sun.
Yes, the poles can flip, there’s evidence of it in the oceanic tectonic rifts. When rocks solidify, the ferrous (magnetically susceptible) metals in it are aligned to the dominating magnetic field of the time. It has flipped multiple times over eons.
No, it will not have an effect on the ice. What it would rather have an effect on, is allow more solar radiation and cosmic rays to hit the earth. No, it would not cause an apocalypse or end all life on earth, it has happened many many times before (but not in modern history).
It would, however, probably shorten lifespans a bit and cause a sharp uptick in skin cancers and possibly other cancers. Would be a society revolving around mega-sunblock.
Also - on the ice thing, I read this a couple days ago conveniently enough for you.
The reason there is much, much more ice on the south pole is because there is a landmass there. The arctic ice is diminshed by the fact it is open ocean, and that a constant ocean heat is always present and circulating and prevents a solid many mile thick ice mass.
However, a landmass prevents such action and allows an opposite ‘greenhouse effect’. A runaway chilling effect caused by the cold conditions creating massive amounts of ice, the massive amounts of ice increasing the general coldness of the area, and its sort of a feedback loop.
This is also why Greenland is a giant icesheet in comparison to the arctic ocean which has ice come and go. Landmass.
And confuse the hell out of migratory birds.
Cheers!
They already covered this when they changed the name from "global warming" to "climate change."
‘They already covered this when they changed the name from “global warming” to “climate change.”’
This keeps coming up. Superficially, it may seem that way. However, when you actually look into it, none of the actions being foisted on us make sense if the climate is cooling.
So, “climate change” == “global warming”. No amount of twisting can change objective reality. ;-)

So. Wimmins aren’t the only ones to go through the change, eh?
;o]
Sure, go ahead, talk about menopause and wreck a perfectly good end of the world story.
;’)
Funny thing — women get it, but it’s called “men”opause... for that matter, shouldn’t the hernia be called hisnia?
*sorry*
Well, you just had to post about the sun changing...I could have talked about diapers, if you want change...
Some men have “male menopause” but that’s non-sequiter to me. As is “hernia.”
You can go back to the end of the world, now. I’ve had my fun. :oþ
*snark*
Heh heh!! Cheers!

BFD. Biggest drop "ever" on records that go back 130 years at best. Absolutely meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Call me when it snows in Tennessee in June.....
There was Frost early last week at higher elevations, meaning the mountains along the Tennessee/North Carolina border. It was 35 down here in the valley.
“Call me when it snows in Tennessee in June..... “
Rather arbitrary bar you’ve set, no? Summertime snowfall isn’t any kind of requirement for a significantly cold turn in the climate.
We’ll all just have to sit back and watch things unfold - it’s not as though humans could influence any of this if they wanted to, given our current technology. It’ll be pretty sad (and ironic) though, if millions die from cold-related famine even as billions are spent on the fantasy of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming.
