The Earth science majors I knew in College were either big time druggies or had the IQ of a box of rocks.

Let’s hope that this puts to rest the cap and trade nonsense for good.

I’m not impressed. The correct answer is: we don’t know what caused past warming because we don’t know what the temperature was before it was first measured.

But we do have long histories of last first frost, last frost for most places there were farmers, or cherry blossom opening dates in the imperial court of Japan. It isn't laid in our lap in degrees celcius, but it's enough to go on. There a lot of temperature proxies in the natural world too.

Inference isn't perfect, but it is a valid scientific tool.

They should put gore in the cannon and test the firing capabilities.

I’ve been writing about htis for a long time now- NASA is just coming oput with htese facts? Of course they come out with htem now while it’s too late to turn back from hte hysteria of ‘man caused global warming’- Will Obama acknowledge this report? Nope- there’s simply to much money to be ‘lost’ for acknowledging hte truth that man is NOT to blame for global warming- Obama and hte dems will NEVER give up the golden goose of hysteria- They are goign to extort as much money from us as they can while denying the actual scientific facts and callign everyone who opposes them ‘antiscience hacks’

Whatever is politically convenient at the time. I remember when the big topic of discussion was the ozone layer, and rules had to be put in place to get rid of the old refrigerants and propellants.

Back then, there was constant talk about solar cycles and their effect on the weather and how they got through that ever expanding hole in the ozone layer down in Antartica.

Whatever happened to all that? Every school child was taught about the dangers of solar radiation and solar cycles. And all the gubbermint weather research grants went toward studying it.

There a Finnish statistician Timo Niroma, who's been doing some very interesting work on the correlations of the sunspot cycle with Earth's weather. You should check him out.

Right.

Inference isn't perfect, but it is a valid scientific tool.

It's great for building "scientific consensus". Objective truth? Not so much.

Perhaps some people who wish to remain credible don't want to hang themselves by sticking with the faulty information. Is it too much to ask if they've seen the light, hallelujah!

I wouldn't want my name known as a gullible global warming advocate. Jeez....the facts are right in front of their face.

When Al Gore is shown to be the fraud to ALL to see, I predict he will go back into a deep post-election-like funk.

Heresy for the global warming crowd.

Never mind this has been known since Iben Browning in the 70’s.

“My suggestion...the next time you get into a discussion with a global warmer...ask them if they ever took a single class in solar science...I’m guessing answer in every single case will be no. Don’t give them any respect after that.”
-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—<>-—

Solar activity has LONG been known to be importantly correlated with Earth’s temperature. We still do not know exactly WHY, but it is irrefutable. See the article I link below for evidence.

Regarding Sol’s current behavior:
All the sunspots of the last two months have been “cycle 24” spots.

The DEFINING characteristic for the “parent cycle” is their magnetic polarity: whether the spot has an East->West magnetic field or vice-versa. “Newer cycle” spots are TYPICALLY at a “High latitude”, whether north or south latitude. “Old cycle” spots are even more typically found near the equator.

Note that the STARTING date for a cycle, however, is defined by the minimum of the 13-month average of sunspots. Right now, it appears quite possible that will have been in Nov-Dec’08. However, if Sol sleeps again for the next 2-3 months, that will be pushed into 2009. In the years around the minimum, both old cycle spots and new cycle spots are common. The first Cycle 24 spot in fact occurred as early as 2005.

Assuming a Dec.2008 minimum, Cycle 23 was in effect from May96-Dec08: 152months. The average length of solar cycles from 1944 to 1996 was 125 months. The length of solar cycles correlates EXTREMELY well to Earth’s temperature, a cycle one year longer corresponds to about a 0.3C lower temperature for Earth, with a lag time of 5-10years.
http://www.tmgnow.com/repository/solar/lassen1.html

These FACTS lead me to predict that the temperature of Earth will be 0.75C cooler in 2014 than it was in 2001. This is markedly different from the IPCC’s prediction of 0.3C warmer.

Probably Bush’s Fault... He may have stopped global warming.

By the way, I just LOVE your suggestion for dealing with global warming alarmists that I quoted above!
