It was a massive Gray ship awaiting the invasion of Earth because NASA blew up their observation station on the Moon.
I thought we took out a mining station....or was that in the crater next door?

Sources say the mining was next door to the target. ;-)

This is worrisome, if an object whatever it was could make that big of an impact upon Jupiter could erase every living creature on Earth.
I say we really should lobby for an Earth Protection Shield concept plan, anything that we could use to create some form of planetary defense.

Gosh folks...
How “fortunate” that “Jupiter is taking the hits for us.”
What a “fortunate accident” that Jupiter and the other gas giants exist as a “system shield” for intersteller objects...
IT WAS PUT THERE BY OUR CREATOR FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE.

then how did they "plan" it? Are they stealing Mr. Wesley's credit?
You're misunderstanding the statement. He's saying something like "...if this were such an event that could have been forseen then planned for, we couldn't have planned it better."

Assuming, of course, that objects will always approach earth on the plane of the ecliptic, and at a time when one of the gas giants is close enough to do the intercept. :-)
