“Again? Wars, rumors of wars and earthquakes.”
that’s not news. The news is we also have Obama and the possibility of a nuclear armed Iran.
Oh, someone here posted it was a 5.2 so I assumed it was an after shock
Samoa and American Samoa, where over 100 people were killed by the tsunami, are almost 100% Christian. Is God trying to get the attention of future NFL linemen or something?
The plate boundaries in Indonesia have been there millions of years, before there were humans or religion.
I'll venture the wacky opinion that the Indonesian earthquakes were caused by plate tectonics and physics.
My thoughts as well and earthquakes in divers places.
Of course this is all caused by Climate Change.
Hah! Easy for you to say out there in Kansas... We here in the Bay Area are more than happy if the earthquakes keep 'overdue'...
(for the record - tornadoes seem scarier to me than earthquakes...And Dorothy and her little dog, Toto, tell me that there are a lot of tornadoes in Kansas)

I have a friend who is concerned about the increase in activity....and he does know what he is talking about.
Good idea to pay attention especially if you are in CA or in the “Ring of Fire.”
Good answer!
These could indeed be building up to something really big. I have been looking at patterns of earthquake and vulcanism over the past several centuries. Around both 1800 and 1900 there appears to be a pattern of about 30 years when unusually large earthquakes and volcanos occurred. If this pattern is real, then we have a few more years on this 30 year cycle, and I would not be surprised to see something as big as Katmai in 1912, or the great Mississippi earthquakes of 1811-12 and Tambora in 1815.
Second earthquake hits stricken Sumatra

Second earthquake has shaken western Indonesia as hundreds remain trapped
Quake struck about 180 miles from epicentre of first tremors
A second powerful earthquake has hit the Indonesian island of Sumatra, a day after the first devastating quake which has left hundreds and possibly thousands of people buried in rubble and a major city cut off from the outside world.
The new quake, of 6.9 magnitude, struck in the early hours, about 180 miles from the epicentre of the more powerful tremor out at sea yesterday - becoming the second large quake to hit the area within 24 hours.
The number of confirmed deaths from the first quake was between 100 and 200, according to disaster relief officials but they warned that the figure was likely to rise, with the head of the country's crisis centre saying at least 1,000 may have been killed.
There were no immediate injuries known from the second quake.
Indonesia's government dispatched teams of rescue workers to the stricken region. International aid agencies were preparing to launch a major relief effort as tens of thousands of people spent a night in the open in pouring rain after their homes were damaged.
I really don’t like earth Quakes....
# AFP: At least 464 people are confirmed to have died in the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra.33 minutes ago from BNO Headquarters
A political earthquake will hit Washington, D.C. in the very near future.
The 7.6 quake was the first one offshore yesterday.
USGS now has this second quake at 6.6 .
Now that is not going to get much traction on this forum....LOL!
