Actually, there was a rather large one in Brazil, I think it was the late 1930s. It was not as big as Tunguska, but plenty big all the same, but in the middle of the Amazon, so not well reported.

Haven't seen this any place else. Probably because it didn't happen.
Either that, or the Trilateral Commission is covering it up. Or they created it on a studio lot in Hollywood. Whatever suits you.
Anyway, it's not 2012 yet. The Mayan Calendar says this won't happen yet.

This was an air burst miles above sea level. Even if you are right under the explosion it doesn't mean you will die.
The asteroid needs to be made of iron in order to make an impact. The last known asteroid of this size took place in the marshal islands in 1994.
