Science is a black or white proposition. It is 0 or 1. It is not "consensus". Consensus is a political term not a scientific one.

Reality is black or white. Science is the attempt to fit theories to observations of reality. When a theory doesn't account for recent cooling (or they just write it off as a random fluke that doesn't matter), then it's time for a new theory. The new theory will hopefully be a little less gray than the old one, but it won't be black or white (and will never be).

Even the Aztecs came around when the sun continued shinging despite the end of human sacrifice.

“Climatologists” may be baffled, but those of us who majored in those sections of physics where correct answers correlate with us keeping our jobs were not baffled at all.

It was bull Obama then. It’s bull Obama now.

Climate physicists aren’t puzzled at all. It was expected.

I think by “climatologists,” Spiegel meant UN bureaucrats and left-wing fruitcakes.

Um, because they idiots are using junk science that ignores variations in the activity of the big burning ball of thermonuclear fire in our sky?

Nah, that couldn’t be it. Must be GW Bush’s fault, probably for insufficient funding of their junk science. /spit

“Scientific Consensus” up to about the 15th century was that the Earth was flat!

The Earth's average temperatures have stopped climbing since the beginning of the millennium, and it even looks as though global warming could come to a standstill this year.

Does this sentence make any sense? Global warming stopped ten years ago but global warming may come to a standstill this year? What?

It stopping rising in 1998, that's almost 12 years.

And by the way... you might look at that bright yellow thing in the sky for your answers “scientists”.

Well obviously all of our efforts in going green are working, dontcha know? /sarc

Its unfortunate, but I think that will be the answer for the whackos

Your answer is obviously more nuanced and I stand corrected. Consensus in science is occasionally essential to move a theory forward but it can also be a cancer that prevents investigation and exploration. Remember it was not too long ago, in earth terms, the “consensus” was the earth was flat.

And of course, the many instances in the past where the “consensus” said one thing, and reality said another.

They finally admit that there has been no warming in recent years, after lying for 10 years that the warming is “accelerating”.

I saw that too. But if the Oceans boil, won’t that stop some other issues, like the sinking cost lines?

According to the very best Climatologists, Global Warming departed for an unscheduled extended holiday but rest assured Global Warming shall return in fifty years so continue to send more cash to our favored scientists, the IPCC, and brutal dictators of the third world.
Britain's Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research ...the world grew warmer by 0.07 degrees Celsius (Zero, 0.0 degrees Celsius, considering El Niño and La Niña effect) from 1999 to 2008 and not by the 0.2 degrees Celsius assumed by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Yea, we should have less concern about sinking coastlines if the oceans boil but I’m still in a dither and overwhelming distraught how all that affects women.

My wife still wants her steak dinner and if the climate is stable I’ll have to do that but if we are headed for catastrophe then I’ll do my part and tell her no way on steaks.

Oh the conundrum of scamming people on global warming.
