No one can dictate what the public, or even FREEPERS, should be interested in.
Not at all... and we wouldn't want FReepers to be any different than others who like the salacious gossip and rumormongering... :-)
So, if anything, it's good evidence to provide others to show them that "we are just like everyone else in society" -- if they ever point to us like "right-wing whackos"...

The media has also been flogging the WH party crasher story, which interests me far less. For one thing, it is giving the two poseurs exactly what they want, PUBLICITY.

What’s the “stupid” and “LOL” for? I truly didn’t know. I believe most of us are under the impression that if we’re involved in an accident with property damage, and the police show up to investigate, we give information.
Tiger, screw the media! You do not owe them squat. All they want is another payday based on your problems. Again, screw them, you don’t owe them an explanation.
Take care of yourself and your family. The media as a whole and myself as a person have no right to your personal life. Walk away from the media. If they hound you, stop playing golf, the sports media and the sport need you, you do not need them.
Play by your rules, not their’s, take your wife and kids out of the country for a vacation, keep your core together.
Above all, don’t give the media squat.

While "salacious gossip and rumormongering" are very far from virtuous, I certainly don't wish to judge others for it. Also, though Tiger's marital issues aren't a personal source of entertainment and mirth, I like to clown around and engage in frivolity as much as the next guy.
What bothers me is that while Tiger threads get several hundred replies, a piece on the German financial system preparing for $150 billion in write-downs (a hugely important story) gets 5 replies.
Yes, it is somewhat troubling to me that so many FReepers (many of whom fancy themselves as evolved on pressing issues) are nearly as disorientated in their priorities as their non-FReeper counterparts.

I think we are just beaten down with all of the depressing news. I know myself that every single day brings at least one or two OUTRAGES from obamaland. And the economic situation is depressing beyond belief. I just think we can’t take much more, because it’s overwhelming. It’s not that Freepers don’t care or aren’t following it, but what is there to SAY? i mean, Lord, we are going to hell in a handbasket 9 ways to sunday, people need to think, talk, expound on something ELSE that ISN”T life and death. Oh well it’s Tiger and his wife for now, but at least as i said it doesn’t involve anyone screwing US over, unlike most of the rest of the news.

You’re correct; I haven’t. I pay more attention to important things, e.g., the dismantling of America by a Muslim, than tabloid crap about celebrities’ affairs and accidents.
