To: TaraP; Never on my watch
My wife and I were there when the first ones showed up in January of 1990 (a trip for our 10th wedding anniversary). I can't believe they've been there all this time!
So long and thanks for all the fish.
Perfect!

Jim is still around, he does Coast to Coast with George Snorey from time to time.
Bet he gets a chuckle out of this one.. mass ‘disappearances’ like this don’t come along every day.

Following a record sized herd, hundreds of sea lions have suddenly disappeared from San Francisco's Pier 39 and have been gone for a month. Joe Vazquez reports Free beer in Santa Cruz?

No offense to you California FReepers, but here's hoping for the big one....
Sorry, but to wish for the deaths of your fellow FReepers is offensive - or do you think the 'quake will be selective and spare certain folks?
To: Palladin
It is a “historical” and “unprecedented” disappearance of Sea Lions whicn he “inherited”.

Sea Lion benefits being paid in Schwarzenegger High-value Indeterminate Treasury scrip. They can't buy fish with the IOUs so they moved to Colorado.
The good news is Feinstein is up to be sacrificed to the Bay Area volcano and earthquake transvestite Gaia deity.
Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

Just got back from a leisurely drive up the coast.
Plenty of sea lions at Santa Cruz. And the bull elephant seals are still in numbers above San Simeon.
But the local SF press is repeating this story over and over.

They moved to Oakland.. After the Raiders' performance this year, NO ONE is moving to Oakland. No on purpose, anyway.
OTOH, maybe the stench of the Raiders' play attracted the sea lions...

Check the inlet waterway routes to Sacramento.
They may have heard that Arnie might be getting some cash and they just want their piece.

The question of hope boils down to can one big un simultaneously take out San Francisco and Berkley?
That would change the balance of events and power in Califonia. It is salvation for California and thus America

but here's hoping for the big one.......... You really, really don't want that.
A huge, destructive quake in the golden state would hurt real people and would cause financial problems that would hurt the other 56* states.
It would also give Mr. Obama cover to blame other events for his own horrific financial failure; and would give him avenues for further confiscation of freedoms and wealth, and to assume more raw power.
You really, really don't want that, my FRiend.

Not all of us living in CA have the choice to MOVE.
A little tact would be appreciated.
