Austin/Round Rock is poaching a lot of the West Coast tech companies. Texas has the lowest per-capita tax rate in the country.

Now you’ve gone and done it. Every Tom, Dick and Yankee will be headed here.

Oh wait, they’ve been doing that for years now.

BTW, You’ve got competition in WASHINGTON DC, which is the nation’s single biggest jobs creating city during this deep recession.

When I lost my job a couple years ago, my wife wanted to move back to Texas. Austin had the most openings of any of the areas I looked at, from Dallas to Kansas City etc. And they were interesting jobs.

Somehow I ended up in Midland, TX instead, a far crappier town but with wonderful people to make up for it. It still has everything you could really need aside from the excitement and traffic jams of Austin.

And you’re a lot closer to the mountains and that great NM food.

Austin is becoming a nightmare for traffic. We live 20 miles north of town and want to move further out.

It has taken me awhile, but I am starting to really like Midland....miss Kansas a lot, but we have the best church I could ever imagine, love my co-workers etc.

Now if only we could get a Super Target we’d be set.

Yeah, they’re all government jobs.

What you really want is an HEB Plus. (246 miles to nearest Super Target)

Texas has the lowest tax per capita

- - - - - - -

I’ve seen this claimed before but it is not true.

Alaska is consistently the lowest. Several others are less than Texas.

My property tax was half in Alaska and no sales tax.

You are right, Texas has the lowest per capita tax burden, not tax rate.

Yeah, we have a regular HEB with some additional stuff (I think) like an aisle of candy, peanuts to make your own peanut butter etc....

But, I don’t think it’s anything like the HEB Plus.

Nope, there’s only few of those. We waited 3 years to get one in Leander.

Doesn’t have all the stuff (aside from groceries) that a Super Target has but, the food section is killer.

(Wish they sold guns and ammo)

That makes more sense.

For an exporting state like Alaska, most of the burden is paid by the importers, oil in Alaska’s case.

Yeah. Just wait until all the leftists flock out of Kalifornica and flood Texas. They will then start clamoring for all the free stuff they had out west and your taxes and deficits will skyrocket.

It happened on a county scale here in Northern Virginia and now my once beautiful, quiet, and inexpensive county is being ravaged by high taxes and a bunch of morons asking for pools, soccer fields, and even more expensive amenities as well as creating traffic that rivals downtown DC.
