What do you think of this theory? No Mantle Convection!!!

I think the guy is a crackpot.

When I wrote to you I had misinterpreted a news report and thought that Mt. Katla had already erupted, that it was the second reported eruption. Turns out it was the second eruption of the unpronounceable Eyjafjallajokull.

Mt. Katla hasn’t erupted yet, but it may well and you all should watch the news carefully to know if it does.

“Experts fear that the current eruption could trigger a much larger explosion of nearby Mount Katla.

Katla is described as ‘enormously powerful’, and because it lies under a glacier its eruption would cause a huge glacial outburst flood and could spread its shadow over a much larger area.

You aren’t the only one that thinks we have greater volcanic and tectonic plate activity when we are in a solar minimum like we are now, and that the connection is the decrease in protection from the solar magnetic field.

I suppose you could drive all over the place in Mt. St. Helen's ash but the material from Iceland's volcanos is a very fine silicate with a HIGH fluorine content.

It cut's glass and melts at a very low temperature.

This is NOT Mt. St. Helens. This is a Mid-Ocean ridge and the rock comes from below, not the crust like with your typical West Coast continental volcanos.

The "volcanic formation" in Iceland is huge and constitutes a long gash right down the middle, North to South. In effect Iceland is, in and of itself, a gigantic volcano.

What we are seeing now is an eruption at one of many fissures. There are several fissures currently primed to erupt.

If Mt St Helens erupted, it wouldn’t cause the same type of damage to the airline industry? Planes would be able to fly through Mt St Helens ash, but not Iceland ash?

In 1980, an airliner did in fact fly through Mt. St. Helens ash in the later stages of the eruption, and the engines failed. The pilot barely recovered.

Much more serious concern:

"Magical Dinan, Brittany

Val Rive has 3 beautiful cottages and 5 luxury apartments all 1/2 bedrooms,

with river view

www.french-lettings.co.uk"

When Mt. Hekla (which is just up the Mid Atlantic Ridge from this particular volcanic vent) blew up in 535/541AD and set the stage for the Dark Ages (which may well have been kick started by an additional blow up of Krakatoa) bad things happened in what we now call Brittany rather than Venetia, Armoricanus, Osismius, Namnetes or Coriosolites.

Whoever the Celtic tribes were called who inhabited the Armorican peninsula in Roman times, when Merlin and the Bretons arrived in the 7th Century, they were gone. One interesting complaint in the Annals of the Kings was about the birds and animals ~ there were none. And, there were no people.

Watch the way the wind is blowing. Now imagine that at some stage a magma flow begins creating ash with a much higher flourine content. Wherever that stuff comes down there will be an incredible death rate ~ today's report from the Icelandic national agency charged with watching after the volcanos says that the fluorine percentage in the ash has risen substantially from the earlier reports.

Hence, the rental notice above. I'm not going to contact them this year Fur Shur.

Now, about the ash quality from Mt. St. Helens, it was DIFFERENT. Not all volcanic ash is the same. This stuff is not starting with melted continental root, but rather melted mantle! The chemical composition is far different.

Both are bad... but the ash from the Icelandic erruptions is like shards of glass and it literally eats up an engine.

Some scientists have speculated that Iceland was formed by the lava that came and keeps coming from an ancient meteor or comet strike that cracked the Earth’s mantle there.

In case you haven’t heard, we have congressional elections coming up this fall and primaries starting next month. Patriotic conservatives need to be focusing on taking back Congress.
