I'm a catastrophist...I was talking about it just last night.
Strange language those Icelanders have.
Anyway the one to watch out for is “Katla”. It’s much larger and has erupted everytime the one I won’t even try to pronounce or spell has erupted.
Yup.
Wake Up People This Volcano Is About More Than Flights, It's About Agriculture, Energy, And Politics
It’s certainly true there have been countless natural catastrophes in history and pre-history. What exactly is a catastrophist?
When I was in the Air Force, my job as a linguist involved being headphoned (chained?) to a rack for 10 hours a day along with about 15, or so, other folks. When someone couldn’t get away, but had to, um, relieve some pressure, they’d give everyone warning by saying “Fred’s up!”
It’s amazing how the airlines are saying “It’s safe now, we can fly again”.
How do these wing-nuts know what’s going to happen for the next couple of days or weeks ahead when they didn’t know this was going to happen in the first place?
I can just picture it now. Planes back in the air, then all hell breaks loose. Literally.
lol
I know about Velikovsky. Obviously extremely violent events have occurred. There is evidence of catastrophes he had no idea about. On the other hand, some of the events he hypothesized there is no evidence of.

Just in case Katla does follow through on it’s pattern of erupting after the current volcano, here is a good link to post at that time. It gives info on all of Katla’s eruptions for the past 8,000 years, how long the more recent ones lasted (usually less than a month), and the volume of tephra (ash) and sometimes lava, and the VEI (volcanic explosivity index).

Good, thanks.
