Have you ever checked out this site? They have some good info, but the interactive maps are great.
Who was the Freeper saying that if this one goes, it is time to lay in 1 years emergency food supply? OMG. I’m watching this one closely. So, what if you lay in 1 year’s food and get 1 1/2 years famine. You still starve to death, you just get to have a year of misery first.
Oh. Swell.
Thanks for the note. I’ve heard there were some rumblings.
If Katla or Hekla blow, it’s going to be both beautiful and at the same time ugly.
I looked last night but between the (almost) full moon and the high clouds, you could hardly even see the starts.
But nobody knows if it’s going to be a year and a half or 9 months.
I guess it depends on how soon you want to die.
Over the last 500 years, nearly every time Eyjafjallajokull erupted, Katla has erupted within a couple years, and more powerfully. I think that only once did that fail to happen.
Katla is under the myrjokull glacier on this web page: http://hraun.vedur.is/ja/englishweb/myrjokull.html , due east of Eyjafjallajokull.
The tiny earthquakes (less than magnitude 3) shown on this represent magma movement. The rare but significant quakes >mag.3 are represented by green stars, but otherwise the colors on the map represent time since the tiny quake occurred. I point this out because it is an uncommon representation of earthquake activity. The color changes rapidly toward dark blue and stays there for a full day longer... the scale is a bit misleading.
If you go to the SpaceWeather.com website, you can navigate to get these same pictures about four times the resolution. (or you can copy the URL of the above pix and remove "_med")
The fact is, we are guests here on the earth. Some, most, or all of us can be evicted at any time by any number of geologic catastrophe (catastrophe for us, that is - just a sniffles for mother earth.)
If most people die of starvation in weeks, and I’m alone with my year’s supply of food without electricity, gasoline, clean water, etc., I’m not sure I would want to live out that year only to face starvation a year later. Then again, you shouldn’t just off yourself. Quite the dilemma. Even then, my year’s supply would be shared with family, trimming it down to a month or less.
When you gotta go, you gotta go. We don’t know the when or how of the end. As far as I’m concerned, the Lord can come and take me any time he wants. Any time. I have no problem with taking an early exit to be with Him.
Boy do I understand that one.......
The thought of winter here (NY) is not an appealing one.

Let’s see..... Starve or freeze? Starve or freeze?
I hear freezing is quicker and not so uncomfortable....
Did you ever read *One Second After*?
It’s about an EMP taking out our power grid and anything electronically controlled.
It’s fiction, of course, but a very believable scenario.
Maranatha, Lord Jesus......
Awesome pictures.....
I would pick freezing over starving myself. Quick and after awhile you feel really warm and cozy. Then you die.
Either way, God can have me any time he wants me. I’m not in a rush, but I won’t complain if He calls in my chips.
