This is the best one I’ve been in. In Ohio, January 31, 1986. A 5.0.

I lived right near the epicenter. Thought my furnace had blown. Grabbed my sleeping baby and ran outside as did the rest of my neighbors. Never heard rumbling, just a stupendous BOOM like an explosion. Quite an experience!

Lots of cheaper properties here in N Nevada. We have the worst foreclosures of any state.

Depending on your skills, job might not be that hard to come by. I am retired, so am not looking.

We didn’t feel anything here in Phoenix this time, but the last one shook us up even up here. Hope all is well!

I was talking to a guy on Skype who felt it and had to rush off to see if everyone in his family was ok. I thought he was kidding at first when he said things were shaking at his house.

It can depend significantly on the type of soil you’re living on, but then you living in this region, I’m sure you knew that.

I note that when I’m laying down, I pick up on the movement much better than if I’m sitting up, especially if it’s a small one.

We live in a suburb of Philadelphia and my husband felt a tremor last night. I didn’t feel it in another part of the house, but he said that the glasses in the dish drainer clinked together. Very weird. I’m glad that we’re not in CA where we would have anticipated more activity.

So the guy on the radio is a true shock jock.

Wow. Do people have this odd idea that somehow tornadoes just ravage the midwest?

In my 23 years living there (now in Texas, but same goes here), I never once saw a tornado.

Not once.

A funnel cloud, but that’s it.

We went into a warning at least once a year, but hardly ever for a confirmed tornado, just radar indicating one could drop at any time.

I don’t know anybody who has had their house struck by one, nor anyone who even has family impacted in a similar way.

The average tornado only goes for a few miles and is typically just a few yards wide.

An earthquake will devastate everything and kill many, a tornado will damage or destroy a small area in most cases and often doesn’t kill anybody even if it directly hits a town because of the advance notice.

You don’t get those with earthquakes.

I’ll take the twisters.

More people are killed every single year by tornadoes in the U.S. than earthquakes. This is a fact.

In modern America, floods, tornadoes and hurricanes cause the most damage and are the biggest killers.

This is not debatable, it's a fact.

Doesn’t mean much though since earthquakes don’t happen as often.

I am just saying when earthquakes happen, they have a far greater impact than a puny twister.

We’re in Pasadena, haven’t felt these yet. Praise God. I hate earthquakes.
