“Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven (Jesus Christ).
Yes and still people shake their fist at Him.
Abby Hoffman? I thought he was dead! LOL!
More great quakes on the way!
On the Indo side of New Guinea.
You know them (we talked years ago) - their kids were also at Hillcrest :-) The second just graduated, but their parents are still there.
Oh yes. That’s right. Thanks for the reminder.
We’re in the states right now. The Obama economy has caused trouble with our support.
LOL!
Furthermore, the Christianity on the main part of Papua is challenged by not having a Bible in their language to help guide them. But they are very, very devout and are often better Christians and more consistent than we here in the US. On the island of Serui which is also affected by the quakes, they are Christian, but JUST THIS YEAR ON MARCH 30, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, they finally have the New Testament.
I hope you think about who is Christian and who isn't. Are you doing anything to help them in their Christian walk? Have you helped give them God's Word? Have you helped send anyone to the rest of the nation which desperately needs to learn about the forgiveness which is found in Jesus Christ? Or, are you just condemning them to hell?
I pray these quakes have not caused them any real problems!
Just talked to dad, so this is a Warironi [An affected island] Earthquake Update. My parents were on the steps of the house when the big one happened, and my dad and mom quickly got off onto the ground, and they were having a hard time standing, so mom sat down until it was over. Everything was swaying pretty bad. Dale [the writer's youngest brother. Dale is entering the 1oth grade] was apparently at the river and says that there were waves like in the ocean when it happened (thats what I heard anyways), and rocks jumping around on the "beach". 90% of the houses on the land and sea have been destroyed. Anything up on stilts basically. No deaths, and only one injury that is of any importance. 300kg of rice and tarps have been sent by MAF [Mission Aviation Fellowship] (if i heard right, the reception wasn't great) and tarps have just been loaded onto the boat to go back to the village. Serui [the smaller island of the coast of northern Papua. It is part of the Papua Province] was hit, but not nearly as bad as expected. Lots of fences and some houses knocked over, but not too bad. Ambai Island wasn't too badly hit either. People are camping and sleeping under tarps and tents while they figure out where to start rebuilding. The church by our house is still up and standing, but the pentecostal church by the ocean has been completely destroyed.
I know the writer personally and I know the "mom" and "dad" and Dale quite well. They are co-workers of mine. I can vouch for the veracity of this account.
See post #72.
Has 0bama rushed to the rescue of his home country yet?
Chicken Little has his fingers in his ears saying "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!". So mush more fun to believe the sky is falling don't ya know.
