For comparison, that's five to 10 times less energy than the "Tunguska event" of 1908, One of my pet peeves involves people who say "ten times less" instead of "one tenth" or even "10% of". This usage seems to have started in the last decade or so.

In May of 1931 in the Brazilian rain forest, a bolide crashed. The subsequent fire destroyed over 20 miles square of forest (1300 sq. K). A local priest managed to persuade a jungle tribe not to kill themselves to appease the gods.
