Yes, inflation will lower the value of the dollar making it more economical to buy American. Inflation is a good thing right now. True those on fixed incomes and loads of non indexed investments will take it on the chin and that’s bad... but survival of the country is at stake.

Smaller packages is a particularly nasty trick these days. It is a very sneaky way to hide price increases.

The greek yogurt I eat everyday went from 8 oz to 6 a couple years ago, and just recently to 5, in the same sized package.

The cup is barely over half full now.

Inflation has been with us for 200 years. In the New Testament the day’s wage of a laborer was one penny. Granted, that was probably not the same as the American penny. Still - - -

But not inflation, as reduction in package size counts in the calculation.

Quite so! The customary half-gallon of ice cream is now a quart and a half.

All you have to do is cruise the breakfast cereal aisle to know that we have food inflation.

Prices have doubled in the last 9 months or so.

“The govt CPI will forthwith begin reflecting consumer price increases except for the volatile food, energy, and Wal-Mart sectors.”

It’s inevitable.

I went to buy a bag of chips a couple of days ago and when I picked up the bag I noticed it felt awful light. Turned out the bag was less than half full and inflated with air to make it look fuller than it was.

And the administration will report that people spending more at the store is evidence of an economic recovery, while we go home with less and less in our shopping baskets.

If there were any justice, we'd be able to shoot the bastards for the common looters that they are.

The Government picks prices on things they know are going down. TV’s , Computers etc. Not what people buy everyday.

***Walmart’s business model (sourcing) will probably need to change.***

So will K-Mart-Sears
Atwoods
Dollar Tree
Hobby Lobby
Tractor Supply co
Dollar General
Ace
True Value

And way too many others as they all sell Chinese products.

And if we want to limit it, we want inflation and the devaluing of our currency to occur. Nothing will get jobs back here faster than if our currency collapses. It will be painful, but at least we will be able to make stuff again.

They do for CPI calculations. They report total sales figures when they start talking about holiday shopping. We'll be spending more and going home with less, but they'll just report that we're spending more and hold that up as evidence that their stimulus plan is working.

Anyone comparing the price of steak? We eat loads of ribeye, and the price has almost doubled or the sales have simply disappeared. We used to get it for close to $6 a lb, but I’ve gotten accustomed to seeing $11-14 a lb.

Don’t know much about inflation, but I do know I don’t load up the grocery cart like I used to. I’m more picky now and limit what I buy. This Thanksgiving will truly be a DAY OF THANKSGIVING. We will be more mindful of the pleasures GOD has blessed us with. I plan to prepare a VERY VERY simple dinner. NO food will go into the trash can OR the garbage disposal! NEVER AGAIN!! Thank you Father in Heaven for the blessings you have bestowed on us. WE give thanks with grateful hearts for our daily bread.

that's true..But...

Hardly anything is American made anymore. You can find good ole American name brands but turn them over.. 'Made in China'
