Its so simple isn’t it? Yet, it seems to escape ‘our betters’ in DC. If we just secure our borders and know/track who comes in it wouldn’t be an issue. That would be a legitimate disease vector. Do these agents change gloves or wash hands after every encounter? I doubt it.

They wear gloves...but...ask them if they wear them for OUR protection or for THEIR protection.

If they change the gloves for each person/search, then it's for our protection and their protection. IF they wear the same gloves to go through multiple shaving kits with toothbrushes, etc, then it's for THEIR protection only and they're contaminating subsequent bags/people with previous searches.

Last week a friend of mine (flaming, flaming gay) flew cross country. He went through the scanner and the scanner detected something metallic that was attached to his thing (I’ll keep this PG-13). So he had to get felt up. He told the TSA guy that he is “very gay” and if he started touching him there, he would get aroused and something might happen. The TSA guy let him go through; no pat down.
