I don't believe this is cconsidered a supervolcano.
The 1883 Krakatoa eruption had a VEI of 6. The scale goes up to 8. Krakatoa 1883 was a very big eruption, but typically does not make the list of "biggest ever".

Ah, my favorite Tuesday-morning-coffee-and-volcanic-doom combo plate.
Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

funny thing about this movie = krakatoa is actually to the WEST of java. I immediately noticed the error in the title when the movie originally was released--I was in high school at the time and was astounded that a big Hollywood movie company could make mistake that any student who passed a class in geography as a freshman could have caught. However, over the past several decades, it has long become obvious to me that geographical and historical knowledge are not the strong suit of most Hollywood screen writers and producers.

I saw this on a Mighty Mouse episode when I was a kid. He tied the top shut with something.

when i heard they got the title backwards, I just HAD to go see it. i’ve had a fascination with krakatoa for some time, and besides - it had a boat in it. IIRC they changed the title when they ran it on TV...

The EPA should crack down on that volcano AND Mother Earth for creating a mess. Make it buy carbon credits, pay more taxes, reparations... /s

Before Krakatoa erupted big way back (way way back) Sumatra and Java were connected. The “island” was just the lava mound in the center of the blast rebuilding itself.

The Terrytoon mouse characters were drawn far more anthropomorphically than Disney or MGM, especially the female ones.
But I learned back in grade school that the year 1816 in North America was called “the year of two winters”, or “eighteen-hundred-and-froze-to-death”. Was that also due to Krakatoa?

This is going to make things even colder.
What people need to be afraid of is the ice age that this historic graph predicts. Imagine the exodus from Canada and the other northern states and countries and far south countries.
