There is a subduction zone right off the Oregon/Washington coastlines that every few centuries lets rip with earthquakes. These type of earthquakes tend to be very powerful, around seismic level 8 or 9, with the shorelines dropping about 15 to 20 feet, and the tsunamis expected up to 100 feet high.
Frankly I think they’re exagerating on the estimated heights of the tsunamis, but I’m not an expert.

I forget the exact name for it, but the last time it went off was a long time ago, and that unless I’m mistaken its a juncture similar to the one you had up the coast from you, BTW, how are things? got food, water, electricity?

There was a certain cove in Alaska that had a tsunami wave travel up it during the 1964 quake, google it and tell everyone how far the water was pushed in height.
Three guesses, it was more than 10 feet, more than 50 feet, more than 100 feet.

Perhaps Im wrong, but I cannot think of a place that has had to face so much deadly serious stuff in so short of a time span as we are seeing in Japan right now. Earthquake
Tsunami
Radiation
and now, a volcanic eruption?
There has been confirmed Godzilla sightings!
You left out one. Lame humor.

For some reason, they did not specify it in the article. You had better check local NHK station, which is said to have reported it.
Let me know if you do find out. Confirmation is always a good thing.

Like a big chain reaction. Makes me wonder what else this monster earthquake could trigger? It might be a big revival of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire"

Shoup Bay, Valdez Inlet (67 meters) was the highest wave generated by the 1964 tsunami.

In S. Korea, the report made it to all three major dailies, YTN(cable news network,) and Yonhap(wire-service.) But I cannot find it in foreign media. Not yet anyway.

The Pacific Northwest is the only region on the Pacific ring of fire not to have had an major earthquake in the last 50 years. Its only a matter of time. The Juan de Fuca plate last had a major quake in 1700, also a 9.1
To: Netizen
It is grossly overdue and I think may be the next major event.
