I just heard on only 1 tv station, so far here in oz. that an earthquake (tremor) measuring 4.0 hit Cairns/Australia (Northern QLD).
What’s happening in Japan (earthquakes & tsunami), we are told here in oz, is a Northern Hemisphere thing, unlikely to affect us in Australia, but who knows... Tho, in oz, we are much more prone to cyclones, floods & bushfires. Earthquakes/tremors have never been that severe in oz except for example the one in New Castle in the late 1980’s, even then not comparable to any thing in Japan or SF/LA/USA. as examples. But, seems to show that the entire Pacific/Asia Pacific region is very unstable at present.

Could be. But I heard it in a Pollack joke from a housemate in 1965.
