There are many underground rivers in the US and Canada with outlets to freshwater lakes.

The US Navy has been using them since 1960`s as protected underground bombproof harbors for freshwater nuclear subs for sneak and shoot.

"As I recall from that episode, that particular body of water was super salinated (really salty) and that was what made it heavier. I remember that it was ringed with muscles, wasn’t it?"

The deepsea explorers have found a "lake" at the bottom of the ocean. It is a super-saturated brine, and looks like a lake of regular water on the surface. All around it are bivalves, a type of mussel. :o) It's amazing to see this little lake "lapping" at its shores of creatures.

My guess is that Valiya Hamza is Asian Indian, not a descendant of the pre-Columbian population of the Americas. An online story from The Hindu refers to him as "Indian-origin" by which they probably mean his ancestors were from India.

Yes! That's it. Thank you for correcting my memory lapse. :-)

I thought the images of that were just unreal, I wish they would have done an entire show on that alone. I tried to find it later, to see if they had any more information, and I couldn't find anything.

I think we need to be exploring the ocean more, just think of what we could discover, or be able to do, if we did.

It's in the "Blue Planet" series: "Deep Oceans." It fascinated me so deeply that it was the only image that stuck. LOL! But everything around those "black smokers" (can we say that?) is very interesting.

I would bet on it for the Mississippi. Old Man River is obviously the benefactor of an ancient fold in the continental plate, so that would go deep and drain underground aquifers as well as surface runoff.

The Sahara use to be abundant with fresh water. I wonder if there are deep underground rivers/lakes there. If so maybe they could be tapped and bring the desert back into a lush land of green again. Who knows where there might be fresh water.
