The geologic processes would be hydrothermal veins and erosion/stream flow that cause placers.

Or maybe unicorns...

If they put it all in your pocket, the Earth would start wobbling like a severely unbalanced Maytag on spin cycle, and might just fly apart. Then you’d be sorry. No, I’m afraid you’d have to give me half.

Where does all the gold come from?

That's not the right question.

The right questions is: where has all the gold gone?

Hmmm...Did they do any sampling around Roswell?

...there are enough precious metals in the core to cover the entire surface of the Earth with a four metre thick layer.

Dibs!

Maybe we can use it to return the dollar to the gold standard?

Gold is from in earth and occasionally from space when things come through the atmosphere to strike our planet.

That’s what I think.

Where does all the gold come from?

The short answer: supernovae.

You are correct, sir!

Some scientific types want to relegate God to the Big Bang. I think there’s certainly room for Him in supernovae too, where the diversity of elements are forged.

The theory is that all the elements that formed the Earth were collected via gravity together from the leftovers of a supernova. Most went to make the sun, the remainder to make the various planets. The heavier elements would therefore have sunk to the center of the molten mass that would eventually become Earth. If this hypothesis is corect, there should be more gold, silver, lead, uranium, etc. near the core, with some making its way to the surface thru volcanic activity and other geologic processes. We have no idea, really, what’s at the center of the Earth, other than it’s very hot, molten and somewhat magnetic, indicating iron and/or nickel is present. What drives the heat generation? Maybe massive amounts of heavy uranium in molten solution with other elements that keep the whole thing from exploding. Who knows, maybe there is a molten river of gold down there somewhere, just waiting to be tapped.........
