Just a question, not trying to be rude, but why would the Texas Legislature set a priority to eliminate cervical cancer...? Is it that much of a problem in Texas? The bill analysis says, "Texas has the second highest cervical cancer incidence in the United States," and the Executive summary of the report says, "In 2006, it is projected that more than 1,100 women will be diagnosed, and 391 women are expected to die from cervical cancer in Texas."
This legislative action on cervical cancer was just one part of a larger "Texas Cancer Plan" which also included a special focus on breast cancer.

"Clinton captured the arousal gap with women in the 90s. At least among Republican females,Perry clearly has the arousal gap."
Not this Republican female and I believe I speak for most of us.

...directed the state health agency to produce a report and deliver it to the governor by the end of 2006. It did so and that report concluded the vaccine Gardasil made the goal attainable. That report says: Armed with this new HPV vaccine, we can achieve the moment when we know our goal eliminating cervical cancer death and suffering is in reach.Couldn't get the link you gave for the report to work, so I'll ask you:
Did that report have some clinical data to back up their conclusions? And I might add, if there was what's currently popularly called "scientific" study, please don't waste my time if it came out of any Grant Whore.
That last line "...we can achieve the moment when we know our goal eliminating cervical cancer death and suffering is in reach..." just really, really sets my jaws real tight. Smells to high heaven of a Study to Support a Conclusion, which ain't any science I ever saw.

None of the candidates on stage now have what it takes.
I sincerely disagree with you. Are any on that stage gonna please 100%ers? Probably not, but there are MANY on that stage that would receive my vote against Obama.

Strange statistic. Thanks for sharing.

“As the saying goes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
That’s a fine saying, however I have never seen a decrease in the cost of health care. No matter how much is mandated, savings are never realized!

And if it is, why arent the vaccinating boys? They are. In 2007, it had only been approved for girls and for prevention of cervical cancer. A couple years later, it was also approved by the FDA for boys and prevention of HPV-related penile and anal cancers.

So far we may be looking at either a Perry/Rubio or Romney/Rubio ticket unless Sarah gets into the fray. I just don’t see anyone else climbing the ladder. Most of the rest have self destructed or are in the process.

With the exception of Ron Paul, I, too, could vote for any of them. I’m not fond of Romney but I’ve decided I cannot sit out this presidential election just because he annoys me. And some of these candidates are very good.

Bachmann can recover from the comment IMO. Since she only repeated what a mother told her, she can do some quick research and state that her research did not yield evidence of retardation. Not with me. I'm not going to vote for someone that goes running off half-cocked based on "somebody told me".
Also, when you challenge someone, especially when you lodge an accusation, I want to see you go eyeball to eyeball with that person. She never looked at Perry during her accusation, during his response, or when she went at him the second time. That's weak IMO.

I would love to know how many of those women in Texas contracting cervical cancer did it in the U.S. or Mexico.

Why is cervical cancer a TX issue? That’s what I don’t understand. Wouldn’t research or development of drugs/treatments at the state level be redundant? I don’t understand why this was a TX issue—not just a medical research.
I am not attacking Perry...still undecided on him...
