I’m starting to believe the prophecy. I think Francis isn’t the guy he’s being made out to be but he is saying things in such a way that the twisted folks throughout the world make him out to be a very bad fellow. Even a simple truth about not letting money be your ultimate pursuit in life can be twisted around into a condemnation of capitalism if you’ve the right “being” twisting it.

I think when he leaves, that’ll be it for the church. He’ll have unwittingly set it up so where the next pope is more of an anti-pope and the world will wander in darkness till the end of days. However, the ascension of the next pope will be heralded by the media as a debunking of the prophecy.

I would ONLY apologize AFTER the CC /Pope has revised the comments to CLARIFY/CHANGE to a non-Marxist set of comments.

“Jesus never denounces getting wealth or having wealth but he does denounce loving wealth more than God.”

Uh, maybe. I think Jesus assumed those who held onto their wealth - perhaps in a greedy/selfish way - were certainly headed for trouble:

“My family were staunch Irish-Catholics and they made me wear a Nixon button to first grade Catholic school in 1960. Talk about parental abuse!”

Ha! That comment made my day.

No Pope in recently history has given much evidence of understanding economics. There are good reasons for this: they never have worked in ordinary jobs (except perhaps John Paul II); and it is not part of the normal curriculum for priests; and if they did study economics, it would come from Jesuits or Keynesians or Marxists — so what can one expect?

Even so, it is sad to see that the current Pope is such a loon. He was elected by the cardinals. That tells you that this is not a problem just with one person.

It is a mistake for us to look to special people or a holy bureaucracy to save the word. That is not the message.

AMEN to that. It is the “love” of money that is the root of all evil.

Got to remember that Pope Francis, though he is a Jesuit by training, has the spirituality of the Francisians, which has a big focus not just only on God’s creation but also on care and concern for the poor.

In other words, Pope Francis is a “hybred” Pope.

“FYI, Catholics don’t tithe.”

The Catholic Church does not have the power of the IRS to force one to pay taxes (tithe). They did at one time. This doesn’t mean that some church members don’t give regular amounts on a regular basis. Call your local bishop I suspect he can help you set up a monthly direct deposit account.

Pope blames capitalism for the reason why people are poor in the world.
I forget how much gold and cash does the Catholic Church have?.
Oh one more thing how much of it is recorded?.

Wealth gets in the way because it chases the gold in the golden calf.

“And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

**FYI, Catholics don’t tithe.**

How can you possibly put all Catholics in this one category? Do you go around to every Catholic Church in the world and count their collections?

Please apologize for your statement.

Don’t you remember how Rush Limbaugh lied about the pain meds he was on? I don’t trust him at all.

Proof and source for this statement, please. Or is this just your mistaken opinion? Then say so.

They own the leadership for sure, and a portion of the laity. But they by no means own the Catholic vote, especially the practicing Catholic vote.

If ownership of a voting block is determined by owning only a portion (not even a majority), then every voting block except the Evangelical vote is owned by the left -- the fact that conservatives still win elections at all determines that this cannot be true.
