The criminal lawyers must be panicked looking for new sources of income now that they've lost the marijuana business.

Marijuana-related arrests, which make up 50% of all drug-related crimes, have plummeted in Colorado, freeing up law enforcement to focus on other criminal activity.
Or really important stuff like running speed traps and manning seat belt checkpoints.

In other news, sales of Cheetos and Mt. Dew are through the roof. ;-)

On a related note, sales of pizza and burritos have skyrocketed.

The drop in the murder rate was just a fluke due to the weather. Just like the GDP.

Americans’ degenerate craving for dope is just another indication of what a third-world POS country America is becoming. A zonked-out populace of drugged-up filth, complacent to sit back and let government dependency grow and grow and grow. Within a few short years, I fully expect them to consider dope an “entitlement” and demand government subsidize it, just as they’re now doing with contraceptives.

According to government data, the Denver city- and county-wide murder rate has dropped 52.9% since recreational marijuana use was legalized in January. Part of it is probably from the unusually harsh winter we had in the US. But a big part may be that people no longer need to go to ghetto drug dealers any more.
I'm going to guess that pot made up a big part of their business.

I disagree with that statement.
Although the actual numbers aren't going to be released until possibly 2016 and while I keep reading the news, criminal shootings seem to have increased since July 1, 2013 -when the gun control laws went into effect.
But, I won't know for sure until then.

Sin always has “unforeseen consequences,” and sin doesn’t pay every Friday -— but payday will come, and the end will be as much if not more than the pain, misery, heartached, suffering, death, and sorrow generated by the alcohol industry. “God is not mocked, whatever a man sows, that will it reap.” This would apply to states and nations as well. The “wages of sin is death,” and “the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.”

Very interesting stuff. What about the less tangible effects? A general cultural decay or something similar? Or is it too soon to tell?
That’s my main concern with drug legalization of any kind. However, the hard numbers are quite compelling.
