They meant to say, “US lawmakers eying an early retirement, or are currently in the steadily diminishing minority of socialists that remain in the House of Representatives.”

Not all US lawmakers are eying them. Just the ones who want out, because anybody caught voting for a tax hike is going to lose their jobs.

“...Fuel taxes have been flat for more than 20 years, starving the Highway Trust Fund of revenue used for rising infrastructure repair costs. Lawmakers have fueled the fund with last-minute short-term injections of cash, but want to find a more permanent fix....”

Hey, I’ve got a idea that the Congress critters are closing their minds to. How about NOT requiring that anyone bidding on a federal highway/bridge infrastructure contract paid union wages. OPEN UP THE BIDDING, pick the lowest bid as long as it is by a qualified contractor and then actually EFFECTIVELY monitor the contracted work for quality and timeliness.

In other words, get the same production for less cost or MORE construction for the same cost. Oh, but that might piss off some campaign contributors or other cronies.

There is no end to the economic savagery perpetrated against people in this country - whether by foreign cartels or our own elected “representatives.” If you want to destroy America, keep taxing the hell out of her!

starving the Highway Trust Fund of revenue used for rising infrastructure repair costs.

That's a lie...how many times has that trust fund been raided over the years to pay for other pet projects?

Why?

The taxes are per GALLON; not PERCENT of selling price.

Lower price for gas MORE used!

Taxes go UP auto (get it?) matically!
