Far as I know, one has always been able to opt out of vaccines while attending public school.
Ever hear of an unvaccinated kid spreading scary diseases?
I haven’t.
Total number of our kids and grandkids in public school - since the 1960’s - is 13. In 2 different states.
Not one instance. Either in their schools or anywhere in the nation.
Disease was around when there was bad hygiene practices, bad sanitation, dubious drinking water, good food not eaten, to boost the immune system.
So who owns an adult’s body (your question)? The adult or the DEA?
Obama has been on all sides of every issue so it’s pretty easy to find an issue where he’s reversed himself. Too bad the media doesn’t call him out on any of it.
Many common communicable diseases were taken out by long term public health efforts. The recent attention has arisen because long absent these the vacination needs had fallen off and a factor changed. That factor was unchecked or regulated immigration.
This dereliction by the federal government was becoming obvious — so what to do?
Major problem caused by liberal/leftist immigration policies causing eradicated disease to re-appear. Leftist tactic, reframe the problem as a crisis needing central authoritarian solution, get after a straw-man, those who avoid wholesale vaccine usage as the false cause, and claim that conservatives dont care about the children.
Classic leftist media tactic to create a controversy and blame Republicans as though they have been in charge the last six years while Obama has flooded the country with immigrants.
It is deflection from their dereliction.
Indeed they do.
So if some dolt decides to use some substance that he/she has been warned is harmful, well, they can be held responsible to get off of it to make their prospects better, and not have standing given the fact that they were warned about how harmful it is. With measles, given the lack of malnutrition in America, it is overwhelmingly not lethal like it is to starving people in Africa and SE Asia. Having hundreds infected in a nation of 300 million is far from a true national outbreak.
If the underlying principle is that society gets to tell you what is best for you and mandate your behavior based on that, then the power has been ceded to the State. Some will argue for this, some will argue for that. Given the right circumstances and ulterior interests and motive, and boom, it becomes a law.
In other words, when you say “But THAT stuff is really bad, so we need a law”, then you are doing exactly what is described above. Ceding power to the State. And sooner or later someone bill com along and say “THIS stuff is really bad too, so we need another law”. And on and on.
It’s like the old joke: We already know what we are, now we’re just haggling over the details.
Did you read? The government is saying why they don’t force people to get vaccinated.
Yes, I read. And I agree with that stance. I just don’t understand why there is so little intellectual consisitancy on the subject of who controls your body.
This is *not* a Catastrophism topic.
