On second thought W gave us Roberts and Alito, so perhaps you are right - maybe this is an intentional manifestation of the Bush family’s infamous principle-lessness.

Just heard a short radio news spot and Trump said that it was Jeb who helped convince W to appoint Roberts. Roberts got involved in the Florida recount in 2000 and got to know Jeb.
