The Airbus A320 family accidents and incidents are counting 88 aviation occurrences, including 33 hull loss accidents with a total of 1,326 fatalities as of October 2015.

I hope Putin takes ISIS at it’s word and hammers them into oblivion (while also investigating what really happened).

Reports read indicate both engines were burning at 28k feet and the wings were off the aircraft when it plunged and it was pieces when the fuselage fell vertically

The whole catastrophe occurred in about 30 seconds

It would not take a very large explosion if it occurred in center baggage area where fuel lines feed the engines, so one pilot posted. All they needed was one IS guy in the baggage loading section who knew what he was doing.

Egypt said there was no mayday , perhaps the pilots were dealing with some technical issues before the "explosion " occurred when the aircraft reached cruising altitude - 2 different issues?

Sure, I could easily be mistaken about the source of the noise, but it was not subtle.

It’s the ONLY time I’ve ever heard that level of mechanical calamity on an aircraft.

That would require a catastrophic failure at high altitude. Very likely a powerful bomb. Missile strike would do the same but hitting a jet liner at altitude is probably a capability ISIS does not yet have in that region.

A320 has an excellent record, from wiki

Through 2013, the Airbus A320 family has experienced 0.14 fatal hull-loss accidents for every million takeoffs, and 0.24 total hull-loss accidents for every million takeoffs; this is one of the smallest fatality rates of any family of jets included in the study

Jet powered swept wing aircraft are stated to have a glide path of a brick, not figuratively. Aircraft like the A-10 are not swept wing expressedly for the purpose of having some glide path because of the higher possibility of being disabled by common ground fire because of their typical close operational proximity to the ground.

A modern airliner will typically rotate at about 180 mph with all of the flaps at full lift. That is only attained by thrust and if that thrust goes away, as in the airliner taking off from Detriot some time ago, it crashed seconds after it passed the landing lights. Compare that with a C-130. They are known for the ability to take off in very short and rough runways.

Not the same or comparable to on board FDR. I have seen those reports and dismiss them as spurious data points trying to describe a dynamic situation with snapshot data.

Hull breach/rupture and/or onboard explosion will give very wild and inaccurate flight profile info due to the way the static/pitot system works.

I am an airline captain for one of the largest airlines in the world. I have 35 years airline experience. I have flown every major manufacturer: Boeing, Douglas, Airbus and more.

I do not need to google to make it seem like I know what I am talking about when I make references to airliners.

The Russians did respond to it so it reached them

I believe this was before the Turks shot down a “ Russian” drone over their border which turned out to most likely be equipment produced in Ukraine

Got to watch Ukraine in this whole goat rope , the situations are linked and we should consider Ukraine as part of obama’s “ coalition”

UK Telegraph reports the Airbus was made in Europe, but the engines made in USA. Which is why NTSB headed for Sinai.

And it was likely the only time you would hear it. When you hear the PTU, it is extremely rare, usually after a right engine failure.

Other than thinking an APU (a jet engine, with no grinding parts) was the noise that a PTU (which is simply a hydraulic pressure transfer mechanism) could make - your only error was thinking that the noise you heard was indicative of poor design and manufacturing. Your bias against Airbus (presumably in favor of Boeing) indicates a lack of knowledge or critical thinking.

I love to buy American. But I also recognize that an American company like Boeing, is not really buying American simply because the headquarters is in American (Chicago may not actually be America though).

Don’t be biased against quality simply because you are a proud American.

If you knew anything about aviation you would know that percentages are what counts. If there were only 33 Airbus flying world wide, you might have a point.

Airbus has an extraordinary safety record. Especially the A320 series. Boeing as well, has an excellent safety record.

People who think Boeing vs Airbus is a contest of quality are woefully ill-informed. I am an airline captain for one of the largest airlines in the world. I have more time flying Boeing than I do Airbus, and I can tell you that every Airbus model I have flown is well designed and well-constructed.

On another thread I tried (unsuccessfully) to find out why videos/photos of the crash site seem to show no signs of charring/burning. I find this odd?
