I recall my relatives talking about this case at the time it was going on - they live in the Atlantic City area and follow such cases - they said Trump offered the woman two million dollars for her tiny home but she was holding out for more so he built around her. They thought the woman was greedy and was holding up the new casino which would provide jobs and they applauded Trump for trying to bring jobs to the area.

So if Cruz were to actually get ALL of the undecideds, he still can’t beat Trump.

Last night he jumped on stage at a Christian Rock concert in Greenville, said a few words, and a prayer, then left. His followers then started posting pictures of the 14,000 strong ‘Ted Cruz Rally’.

I had read about that on another thread. That’s so freaking pathetic and dishonest. Before Trump announced, I was good with Cruz. What the hell has happened to him? He’s out of control with the dirty tricks and lying. I truly do not get it.

Trump needs to get straightened out about the “PUBLIC PURPOSE” requirement of eminent domain, the unconstitutional Kelo decision and false accusations of actual bulldozing notwithstanding.

Also, IIRC, it was New Jersey that actually went to court with the woman. I can see why, if a city spends millions to buy out an area to bring in economic development, and they have one stubborn holdout gumming up the works, what recourse do they have? It’s not an ideal situation and the concept of eminent domain bothers me because I’m sure it does get abused, but the stuff Trump and Cruz have/do favor using it for seem reasonable to me. If someone offered me $2m for my house, that would be an 8x return on my investment and I’d be an abject moron (not to mention a community pariah) for not taking the deal.

But, I agree with Cruz2Victory above. This is not even a blip on my radar of issues I actually care about. They’re trying to slam Trump but I notice not one of them is campaigning on ending the practice of eminent domain. It’s all desperate theatrics to hit at Trump at this point.

They claim the ad is misleading because it insinuates that the woman lost her home. However, it admits the truth that Trump spent 4 years in court attempting to steal the woman’s home, but was unsuccessful. His position is clear. If a rich guy wants your property, it’s OK and right for the government to take it from you and give to the rich guy.

Great post!

I doubt it will stop the Trump steamroller, but fighting for the individual's liberty and the sovereignty of their property is part of the foundation of conservatism.

Not that I like Trump and all but I’m just waiting for his fellow Republicans to also accuse him of drowning kitties and puppies in his pool.

Isn’t that common for Christians to too often do that makes them seem slimey to the rest of the world?

“However, it admits the truth that Trump spent 4 years in court attempting to steal the woman’s home, but was unsuccessful. “

So you actually think that eminent domain is theft? Trump doesn’t deny that he lost in the attempt to get the city to purchase the woman’s home through the eminent domain process, but If Trump had been successful, there would have been a “better than you could probably get on the open market price” paid for the property. So just how is that theft? The woman simply didn’t want to sell her home and the courts upheld her right to the decision. And the sleazy cut and past video clips don’t help me to think Cruz is an honest person.

The liberal Washington Post is showing that they would rather have Trump as the Republican nominee over Cruz. This is because Trump is defeated by EITHER Sanders or Shillary in the general election according to almost ALL polls.

Going after Trump does not work. They are afraid of him. Ted is easy pickings.

You couldn't be more wrong. The media know it's a Pub year and know that Trump is the most beatable of the Pub candidates. Even hillary can beat him.

Bottom line is she could have sold for between $1-$ Million but held out and eventually it sold at auction for $530k to Carl Icahn.
