No, Federalizing the police is the wrong thing to do. What is needed is more accountability to the communities police serve and less politicizing of the civil service.

Lets list a few reasons against a Federal Police Force (probably the FBI):
Waco,
Ruby Ridge,
Kennedy Assassination,
Hillary Email Investigation,
Whitewater Investigation,
Multiple highly touted labratories shut down and prisoners released,
911 Investigation,
and on and on.
The FBI has been corrupt at the national level since the Kennedy assassination and the state and local police forces (as imperfect as they may be) are the only one to reign in federalism jackboots.
Exactly two in the Hat for O’Mugabe Jr., Dicktator for life ...ya know this MF’er wants to stay on past Jan 2017 ...
Obama’s first BLM campaign in Ferguson was about stoking the base for midterms, but mainly about getting Federal Gov’t and DOJ involved in controlling local police forces
Organized BLM campaign #2 is about same - with gun control narrative thrown in.

Local police departments are paid for by the people who live in the areas being served. Maybe the Federal government might use taxpayer money and military surplus to supplement equipment, but the office space, salaries, retirement, health insurance, etc., are paid for by the people in the community.
Therefore it is a ballsy sort of an overreach to try to convince the citizenry that they would really be better off with Federal control of departments they pay for and which are answerable to THEM!
You listed one crime that has been solved.
The FBI in the 1960’s was controlled by one of the most dangerous men in American History, J Edgar Hoover. Hoover hated the Kennedy’s as did Texas’ Lyndon Johnson.
Here is WHY that is important today:
There is a way to PROVE that a conspiracy killed JFK and that the FBI lied and forged evidence to hide the truth.
There are TWO INDEPENDENT WAYS to determine the time between shots:
1. Using the Zapruder film and the fact the film speed was 18.3 frames per second
2. An audio recording analysis done by audio experts also lists the time between shots.
Because the time between shots using the Zapruder film MATCHES the time between shots using the audio analysis, it means that a conspiracy definitely killed President Kennedy because 5 shots were fired with the last two fired BANG-BANG, two shots 0.7 seconds apart.
You can see in this video what that means and how it was done.
The relevance to today’s federal gubermint is that if you can kill JFK in front of hundreds of people and get away with it, then you can tell Americans virtually any lie and get away with it.
I transferred this video to VIMEO as I have been banned by YOUTUBE. YOUTUBE and others do NOT like someone saying that it has been proven a conspiracy killed President Kennedy. (Just like Obama does NOT want Americans to know Johnson was an Islamic nut job working out of a Mosque in Texas).
If this is true and so easy to verify, why haven’t you seen this before? That is where it gets a bit harder. The HSCA in 1978 said there were FOUR shots but the figure I show in the video shows FIVE shots. Why the difference? That is where it gets a bit more complicated. IT is easily explained why FIVE vs. FOUR but it takes a bit of work to understand. If you are interested I will be glad to show you HOW the US government hid the truth about who killed JFK (LBJ and J EDGAR HOOVER).
The bottom line is: If you can kill President Kennedy in front of hundreds of people and hide the truth for decades, then you can tell any lie you want. The presstitutes will side with their masters, who now is Hussein Obama as he will work to hide the ties of Johnson to Islam.
