ROTFLMAO! I’d forgotten about that one.
That goes back a few years!

LOL! That’s a hawngree eaglet.

When I checked in on them this afternoon, they were both in a food coma. Must have been a big lunch because both had massive “cropzillas”.

They had a gar and a unidentified rodent early today. :)

They're getting SO big! The stats said that at 3 weeks old they are 3 times the size of when they hatched. 😮

Yup! Did I tell you all that I met, La Diva Loca? I guess it was in Washington DC, been so long ago I have forgotten.

The rodent was a squirrel. I rolled the video back and saw what was on tap for lunch, but didn't know what the fish was. Then watched a little of her feeding them a little later. They were stuffed by the time she was through with the feeding. Couldn't have been easy sitting up with all that weight in front. What a cropzilla. LOL

I think they are running a pretty good race for cropzillas with SE17! LOL!

HERE is a video of how they installed the cams at the NEFL nest. About 30 minutes long. You might have already seen it. I hadn't. LOL!

I haven’t seen the video so will take a peek. Thanks.

I was thinking about Peaglet when I saw those crops today. LOL! Romeo and Juliet have a good food supply to draw from to keep two eaglets’ crops so full and that’s a good thing. Both will grow up strong.

Looks like E9 won’t have to share with a sibling. M15 burying the first egg ruined that opportunity.

Yes, it did....I guess he knew something that we didn’t. he didn’t do that last year, so there had to be a good reason. I’m ready for it to be buried again now.

There was a video on FB that I couldn’t find a way to share of E9 being accidentally knocked over on his back by M15, who brushed against him with a wing as E9 was sitting on the edge of the nest bowl. Freaked E9 and he couldn’t get himself back up on his feet. He’s ok now...I guess he finally rolled over or one of the parents helped him. Kinda sad to watch him being so scared when it happened!

Yeah, time for it to go but then E9 sure does like to snuggle with it. LOL

There’s no telling why he buried it in the first place. Birds do some things that defy logic every now and then.

He probably managed to roll over on his own. Eagle parents don’t seem inclined to be much help.

Last year, Momma Berry accidentally hooked one of her eaglets with her talon and pulled it out of the nest bowl when it was just a couple of days old. She didn’t do much at all to help it get back into the bowl and it took a long time for it to manage to do it on its own, but it did. We were all fretting because it was too young to be exposed for long, especially on a cold day, and we didn’t want it to get sick from the cold. But it did fine and grew to be a strong young fledgling. Whew!

Yeah...dad seemed clueless and went about fluffing stuff all around him while he was chirping like crazy...then brooded him. While he was still chirping...”get me UP!!” LOL!

I think a Decorah eaglet was picked up with a talon and slung out of the nest bowl...either last year or year before last. He got himself back where he belonged too.

Poor lil baby. There’s a reason the term “bird-brained” came into being and stuff like this is a prime example. LOL! It’s a wonder, sometimes, how ANY of the babies survive.

Those talons get stuck in the nest materials all the time and it’s no wonder that sometimes the chicks get caught too. Pretty good bet that sometimes the results are disastrous for the chicks. :-(

I hope I never see one of those mishaps!

Mom Berry always has a foot full of fluff from the nest. Maybe because of her gimpy foot, but she just sort of drags it around. LOL!
