The big probability is once a couple go down the others will probably turn tail. If not then shoot till the mag is empty and if you can't reload at least you took more of them than you. They are a minority and the attrition rate for them if that scenario happens many times over they will sooner or later have to stop or become extinct.
They will be the ones helping clean out water damaged stores of the undamaged stuff. Aka looting.

Any legitimate news outlet—one which practiced actual journalism—would be reporting on this sedition and lawlessness. And they'd be position themselves in opposition to it, along with We the People.
But instead, the Media betrays its overt solidarity with these un-American, subversive elements—because it suits their concept of undoing the administration of a duly elected President.
The Democrat party has truly lost its collective mind, and is leading its dwindling voting constituencies into electoral disaster in 2018 and beyond—relegating the party to minority status at both the federal and state level for decades to come.
The People will simply not tolerate the subversion of this Republic to Communists, Marxists, Anarchists, or Fascists.
And if it comes to civil war, it's going to be very lopsided, and it will be over very quickly—regardless of the tacit support of the Uniparty Swamp and the Deep State.
These fools are just severely overplaying their hand in virtually every way imaginable. They're breathtakingly delusional, and when their whimsical bubble bursts—and it will implode—the reckoning is going to be extremely destructive to the warped, artificial reality they've constructed around themselves.
The disconnect between the Establishment and the People has never been more pronounced. I honestly think that these fools don't even realize the blowback they're going to face—they actually believe that they have the power to invoke an alternate reality. They imagine that they can impose their totalitarian dogma on a us—A Free people—but they couldn't be more profoundly mistaken. They're messing with red-blooded Americans here—not the submissive PC sheep that populate Europe.
It's going to be something to behold when their "fake news" universe comes crashing in on them. Hopefully, not too many decent, everyday, "deplorable" Americans will come to harm when that cataclysmic process ultimately unfolds...

After the first one drops, the rest will generally run away. It would be best to do the same. Get out of sight of the mob and conceal any weapons. The cops will not be your friends in this situation.
It can take 4-5 shots to actually drop an assailant. Without training and practice, a typical hit rate under stress is only 20% of shots fired. That is a lot of stray bullets. Remember - "Every bullet summons another lawyer".
There is no point in drawing a weapon unless one intends to use it. And brandishing or warning shots are a particularly bad idea. "When it is time to shoot, stop talking".
One would certainly be arrested and prosecuted for a felony offense at a later time. Political authorities do not generally approve of "self-defense" regardless of what the law may claim. And shooting anyone who is running away is not "self-defense".

After such an incident, a peaceful, middle-class life is probably over for good.

I presume Cohn spoke out of deep ignorance, either not knowing Antifa were the “citizens” he was praising or else not knowing that Antifa are self described communists who’s origins are traced back to Weimar Republic German Commies.
Ignorance is not a quality I would want in an adviser. A registered democrat from Goldman Sachs was a curious choice for the Trump administration.
