Yeah - snowflakes who feel there art is a major, important, critical influence on society. Delusional nitwits.

Only in NY can one get compensated for destroying public property ... by calling it art.
To: ilovesarah2012
Incredible. Hopefully thrown out on appeal. Simple question, who owns the building?! Bet they will never see a penny. Worst part is how does the owner get back legal costs fighting idiotic lawsuit?

Let’s see, if I let the neighborhood kids draw chalk drawings on the sidewalk. Or on of those fancy 3D drawings some people do. Am I then liable if I take the hose to it at the end of the day?!

This guy was nice enough to allow these people to deface his building, in the name of art for many years, but when he decides to destroy the building they sue him? As you say, this is insane. If this is not overturned we are now in a parallel universe where absurdity is the norm. As an analogy, if I go to the Met and spray-paint my art on the wall of the first balcony during the first act of La Traviata, they can't destroy it or I can sue them for millions? Beyond ludicrous. Where does this judge live? Maybe his home should be improved with some art.Property owners should take note. If your building has been graffiti-bombed, don't repaint it. Just wait for "the white bandit" to show up some night, spray paint everything white overnight, and leave his telltale logo in some inconspicuous place. Just let one graffiti job be replaced by another. I'm sure a visit by the white bandit could be arranged quietly, off the books, and probably at non-union rates.

Punishing the bourgeoisie in Deblasio’s NYC.

This all boils down to liberal white guilt. Ivory tower “experts” in academia believe that because minorities have been oppressed in the past, that somehow their artistic, musical, and literary productions are universally and automatically more valid than those of white people, even though they may not stand up to objective standards of quality.
The “Visual Artists Rights Act” is liberalism gone wild, and needs to be repealed.

We know liberals don’t believe in property rights - except their own, of course. I hate these slugs.

“no good deed goes unpunished” — the owner never should have allowed these turds to paint on his property.... now he is screwed unless he can get this over-turned on appeal. One would hope so, but I wouldn't hold out much hope. The world really is that insane.
On the other hand, everybody is now on notice that you don't ever let a bunch of ghetto thugs paint on anything.

This famous mural in Downtown Pittsburgh disappeared when the building was demolished to make way for a crony capitalist retail project (which failed within three years)
