Heck Mt. St. Helens did that and guess what. We’re still here. Of course of jellystone goes, there’s likely to be a lot less of us to make snarky comments. ;-)
Reality is that if this thing goes, its not going to just be a problem for the US... Very least you are looking at crop failure for 1-2 years for the entire northern hemisphere, and possibly globally depending on how much ash winds up in the atmosphere.
There really isn’t any way folks, on a large scale, can effectively prepare for a possible multi year nuclear winter. No eruption close to the scale of this has happened in modern human history.
Who the heck has stored a years worth of food? You know what, its not even worth worrying about.
Yeah, I’ve pretty much settled on using the same “emergency plan” that I’m going with in case of an asteroid collision.
Boiling River’s closed, too, since March. Blamed weather, but....
What about radioactive rain from the flooded nuclear bomb created chambers?
Worrying about a Yellowstone eruption is stupid. If it does go boom in the major way currently projected no one has anything to worry about again except some will worry about staying alive for a few more days. The rest will have no more worries.
I have a years worth of food stored.
No one can steal it either, as it’s all around my waist.
Exactly right. There is no sense in worrying about this. If it does blow in a big way, the entire northern hemisphere will be screwed if not the entire globe. For decades.
We are as prepared as one can be for something one cannot be prepared for....won’t lose any sleep pondering it.
First off there really is nothing to see here. That geyser isn’t exactly on the usual travel routes and goes off with no one around usually.
Second, one geyser does not an eruption prediction make and the uninformed speculation present in this so-called article is just junk opinion.
As to preparing for the eventual Yellowstone eruption... Seriously? When that thing does blow, two-thirds of the US lower 48 states will be blanketed in ash ten to 100 times worse than St. Helens. Canada and the US will cease to exist and the world will have the winter hangover of all hangovers.
There is no preparation for the end of the world. There is only survival and maybe not even that. The southern hemisphere will also be severely impacted as the ash crosses the equatorial atmospheric shear.
.
The “end of the world” is yet 1000 years away.
.
Good thinkin’. May I adopt your plan?
Proof of Global Geyser Change.
Heck Mt. St. Helens did that and guess what. Were still here....

Well, at least those who obeyed evacuation orders are, Those who didnt evacuate didnt fare as well.
“A Yellowstone eruption would produce levels of global warming gases orders of magnitude greater than what man has produced in his entire existence.”
But still less than a 1976 Diesel Mercedes
More likely centuries.
Yeah, the video of the guy being overcome was pretty awful.
“No one can steal it either, as its all around my waist.”
Keep in mind, you are made of meat.
A years worth of beer would be good.
