McCain won't resign unless he gets to choose his successor (his wife or daughter).

And the governor is currently in a primary fight with Ken Bennett, who has made McCain's successor a campaign issue. So if McCain resigns and Ducey appoints another McCain, he's toast in the August primary, and he's not doing too well anyway (see below link).

So look for McConnell pressuring McCain to come up with some other acceptable appointment other than his wife or daughter, so he can resign and McConnell will have another vote in the senate.

Stubborn, selfish oligarch McCain!

For McSwamp to have this much antipathy for the President and this country - even while on his death bed - tells me the devil has him firmly under lock and key.

John, you fool.

If McCain is permanently incapacitated and unable to perform his duties, McConnell, et al, should urge him to retire and or gently and lovingly expel him (for his own good). But I’m guessing no democrat would vote to expel anyone so dedicated to their cause.

The evil within him runs about as deep and dark as it gets.
If resigning would help Trump, he’ll not budge.

The only thing that will get him to move is the Hand of God.

The thing he needs to worry about, though, is the Hand smacking him down the tunnel to hell, where he currently belongs.

Satan awaits you, McTraitor. Repent while you still can.

I don't see any defections from the GOP on something as important as this.

If they can't even toe the party line for a Supreme Court nomination, then the party shouldn't even exist ... and they will probably alienate every voter and donor of theirs.

Mccain will not resign until he takes his dirt nap. Why allow your constituents to have a vote when it’s all about yourself?

Trump has already made a deal with 3 Dem senators in Red States. It sounds like he may be more willing to work with the 3 Dems rather than work with the 3 RINOS.

Only in Washington do supposedly responsible people hang on the every word of a man with a brain tumor.

Simple answer the question is No. The premise of the question as to cause and effect for McCain’s decision is absurd.

The only way that the nominee will go down is if there is some real (or widely believed) dirt that is uncovered. Otherwise, political necessity will require some Dems to vote for the nominee.

Will McCain resign to give McConnell an extra vote on Trump’s SCOTUS nominee?

No. Next question.

They say he’s waiting for the AZ Governor primary so that the Guv can pull the switch. No idea why. It is obvious the fix is in. But no one knows what Cindy would do.

Primary is August 28th
