Why does anyone care what Tiger Woods OR ESPN says about ANYTHING?

Tiger Woods is a great golfer and the media usually fawns all over him. I once saw a screen crawler that said something like, "Tiger Woods is currently in 133rd place in the ____ tournament being held in ____." They never mentioned who was actually in the lead.
