Clinton & Babbitt need to share in this problem. They CLOSED Forest roads. Placed LARGE strong gates across the access & then dug holes the size of a school bus inside those gates so people could NOT get into the forests.
They called it ‘The Roadless Policy”.
The fire crews & trucks can no longer GET to the fires.
Only Hotshots parachuting in can get there now. The fires get a good head start in the winds & the rest is what makes the news for the week following.
Trump needs to reopen every one of those roads, get maintenance crews in to repair what hasn’t been repaired for over 25 years and KEEP them open.
P G & E has started shutting down ALL power to various counties in that area. They re being blamed for the Santa Rosa fires of a few months back.
So, already, when high winds are forecst, they give notice to customers, and they SHUT DOWN all the power. Schools-—hospitals—traffic lights-—all shut down.
Already did it 2 times.
Then, even tho warned, people are trying to sue PG&E because ‘they los all the food in their freezer.
Well, any decent freezer will hold the food for 3 days minimum if you keep the door closed.
The next part of that problem is that the new freezers with all the computer controls DO NOT automatically restart when there is a power loss. YOU have to go out & restart it, and do some reprogramming. ALL the freezers I have are old style with a dial on the inner wall, and they restart on their own. Only thing that might happen is that a surge when power comes back on will trip a breaker.
Just wait until the state legislature declares that every single house & business has to produce their own power with windmills & solar.....JUST WAIT...
Parts of California already have made laws hat ANY new homes built MUST have SOLAR installations.

I figured that out in the 70’s when they installed a major reactor core assembly 180 degrees backward at Diablo Canyon.

Did PG& E negligently not do proper maintenance on their overhead lines and negligently did not enforce proper tree trimming and vegetation management in their rights of way? If this can’t be proven, they are not liable. They are only liable in the case of gross negligence and willful misconduct.
More likely the State of California, the US Forest Service and US Park Service are mostly to blame. They have long been resistant to good forest, brush land and grassland management practices.
Putting transmission lines is extremely expensive, ex: here in AZ it costs a out $2 million per mile to put a single 69 kV circuit underground. Rate payers would have to pay to put the lines underground, that’s how regulated utility tariffs work.

Yes, 69kV is the lowest transmission voltage in AZ, but also the highest voltage that can/should be put underground. 115kV, 230 kV and 500kV lines cannot safely nor cost effectively be put underground. The intense heat buildup in the energized ug cables, conduit and encased duct bank are virtually impossible to manage, and the costs to do so would be ridiculously high.

Every time my company tries to do proactive vegatation management in our rights of way, especially with large trees in towns and cities, the public gets completely hysterical.
It can takes us 4 to 5 years to site a simple small 40 MVA neighborhood substation—there’s that much hysteria and legal hoops we have to jump through. Half the time the raging lunatics get their way and we’re forced to relocate our planned substation sites over and over again. But of course, the same lunatics scream bloody murder if their power gies off for five seconds.

They are now saying that there was some damage to a tower outside Paradise before the fire started. I would suspect arson. As evidenced in the past, the fires start during the night during perfect conditions at multiple sites and are out of control before discovered. Normally the tag some hapless camper or homeless person as the cause. Think about it, if you are a UN Agenda 21 terrorist, environmental terrorist, or foreign terrorist what would be the easiest and safest way to accomplish your mission to destroy the US.
