As the article says, fiber is found in nuts. Nuts are a part of a low carb diet. Therefore the article, but not the headline would support a low carb diet full of nuts which contain fiber. The green vegetables in a low carb diet also contain fiber. In fact low carb dieting will actually increase your dietary fiber over the standard American diet.

I wonder if the researchers even considered this angle.

A big, fat grant from Archer Daniels Midland reminded them exactly how to phrase it.

You need fiber if you eat carbs. If you eat very little carbohydrates, you need very little fiber.

Almost everybody eats huge amounts of carbohydrates, and so would benefit from eating a proportional amount of fiber. They would also benefit from eating less carbohydrate.

It is stunning how stupid people can take true facts and ruin them.

Eat less, do more.

I don't think that's accurate.

A diet heavy in meat and protein still needs fiber to keep things moving.

I know this from personal experience.

Grains are a terrible way to get fiber, because they have tons of calories.

Low carb veggies are high fiber, low calorie, and low carb.

I realize this is an anecdotal story, but I’ve been on Atkins fairly consistently for many years. I also exercise regularly and have most of my life. The day after Christmas I had a massive heart attack with 100% blockage in one artery. CPR for 6 minutes and 2 shocks. I am typing this only because 3 things went exactly right to keep me alive. Point is, who knows what works and what doesn’t. My father did not live a healthy lifestyle and died at the same age I am now. Maybe we don’t put enough emphasis on genetics.

"Low-carb" folks know the difference between low and high glycemic food values, unlike idiot headline writers and idiot media folks. Idiots.

Sugar is a “bad” carbohydrate, but fibre is found in “good” carbohydrates such as wholegrain bread and oat-based muesli.

~~~
Stupid.
Fiber is also found in almost all of the low-carb vegetables.
You can be low carb and get plenty of fiber.
Please look into Solaray Stinging Nettle capsules and 50 mg of beta-sitosterol a day.
Those let me sleep through the night without bathroom visits. It took about a month to get to no visits, but it worked for me.
This was a meta study, meaning nothing was done but a review of reviews and studies.
How were your blood tests during the years on Atkins? Mine and my wife’s are great.
Interesting point you make. Thanks for that and congratulations on a renewed chance at life.
This is a propaganda piece. Fiber from vegetables is better than fiber from grains because vegetables have fewer total carbs per serving.
According to these guys I’m on a high carb diet because I take Metamucil.
Blood tests never raised any flags. The only medication I was on was for (hereditary) high blood pressure. This came out of nowhere. Before this I would have been voted least likely th have a heart attack.
Did you have a calcium cover plaque or a soft plaque blockage? Good HDL should reduce or at least stop soft plaques, but it can’t do anything with calcium covering a soft plaque.
To get rid of calcium covering soft plaques, Vitamin K2 can remove that, then HDL can work on the plaque beneath it.
