I am working on a letter to P&G. Yes, an old fashioned letter. Here are some of the points I will make:
I have been using Gillette shaving products for almost forty years.
My late father (who really was the best a man can be) taught me to shave with a Gillette razor and cream.
Due to their utterly offensive and insulting ad, all Gillette and other P&G products in our home are being discarded and replaced with other manufacturers’ brands. (Unopened product will be donated to charity).
We will no longer purchase Gillette products and will try to avoid other P&G brands.
If Gillette wants to regain our loyalty, here is what it will take:
1. Apology from CEO and Chairman through national print, television and social media outlets calculated to reach as many viewers as possible including 60-second Super Bowl spot featuring those executives.
2. Immediate firing of advertising agency involved.
3. Immediate termination of senior corporate personnel responsible for approving the ad. (If precluded by employment contract, then public reprimand and no contract renewal).

I used to live in the queen city. One of my neighbors was a brand manager at P&G. At P&G the brand manager is king/queen.
An advertising lady from NYC flew into Cincinnati and told the cabbie to take her to P&G. He took her to the plant not the HQ. She was late to the meeting and immediately started slamming P&G for her lateness.
In the old days you did not screw with the Brand Manager.
My neighbor, the brand manager, had her fired before she got to the airport.

I imagine this ad appeals to radical feminists, who no longer shave legs or armpits.
I hope for Gillette’s employees sake I am missing some strategic advertising plan, they’ll move forward without a dime from my household.
