There is a Tyson plant in Lexington Nebraska. I can guarantee a Tyson plant will change Provo and not for the better.
I refuse to buy Tyson foods. Their history of trafficking in illegals goes back a long way. How they are still in business is a wonder to me.
Getting one of their plants is a disaster for any community.
Utah is already swimming in illegals. It is so bad now that we sold our property and are unlikely to ever return....
They arent going anywhere. Might as well have them work and pay taxes.
My grandparents former home is in Provo. They are long gone, but thanks to the Mormon Church, the last time I drove by the place, I was able to find out that rather than two living units, it has been “demised” to house FIVE Mexican families. The Mormon Church is the second biggest church in Mexico and they are “all in” bringing “newly minted Saints” into the US from Mexico. So Tyson need not worry about cheap labor in Provo, it’s already there waiting.
I have never bought Tyson foods and I will never buy Tyson foods in any way, shape or form.
ICE has raided their plants but only very occasionally. They’ve got a lot of money to throw at politicians. Smithfield is pretty much the same.
I get all our meat from a small grocery store that’s a member of the IGA. Independent Grocer’s Association. They tend to carry the smaller, regional names for meat.
I have avoided Tyson products since it helped elect WJC and received white glove treatment from the EPA.

Ughh....chicken processing plants.. Out here in Decatur, Alabama its pretty much known as THE place that one can get a job while having a criminal record.
I see the rigs hauling the cage-trailers that must carry 1000 chickens or more maybe. Poor creatures.... seen em rolling down the highway when its 9deg F on a February early morning.
There’s lots of people here from central america (honduras, san/el-salvador etc). I dont know if they are illegal of relocated here by some US program.
So this means that Spanish Fork and Payson will turn into Mexico.
In 1980 there were none. But soon they will be the majority.
Guess Mittens is thrilled to know that the plantation slaves will soon be his to control.
“...800-1200 new jobs.”
Somalis, probably.
They could be both...
Have to keep up their knife skills...
Back in 2003, we used I-80 to come back out West from a visit-the-relatives safari in PA. Stopped off at a WalMart in Lexington to get some supplies. The place CRAWLED with women in scarves and long dresses. Wife asked who are they. I just guessed they were Somalis.
At the checkout, the Somali woman ahead of me kept pulling out plastic cards (six of 'em) until one of them had enough to pay for the goods. After she left, I asked the Hispanic clerk if those were EBT cards. She just shrugged. I asked her if she knew who paid for them. Shrug again. I said to look in the mirror. No shrug this time, just deer in the headlights.
When we left the store, I spotted the gigantic Tyson plant across the street and everything fell into place.
Back on the road, we discussed the chicken-egg thingy: Did WalMart locate near the Interstate to snag passing traffic and Tyson followed, or did Tyson locate there first and WalMart came in to grab the customers? The conclusion was that Tyson did not locate last in order to take advantage of WalMart's low prices.
