Bernie... MR GIVEAWAY!
that came to my mind. We’ve been there and done that. How would this plan be any different than the failed inner city housing projects which we built? How would they fare any better than the terrible section 8 housing projects?
What does Bernie propose to do, when these gleaming new housing projects are literally torn apart and vandalized by their own residents?

Does that mean he’s going to pay off my mortgage?
Those tax burdens became a real issue years ago when Western Europeans stopped coming to the US; they could pay comparable taxes in their own countries and get more for it. While their “free healthcare” is crap, they enjoyed far more vacation time and rights as workers than Americans do. Their model fails, but they realized we were heading the same way - so they stayed home with people who speak their language and share their culture.
And in 6 months (or less) they will be urine-scented, drug and roach infested hell-holes....
We probably have 50-60 million people here who shouldn’t be. We could free up some housing.
Taxes becomes the licensing that other countries have to keep small businesses from starting.
Its actually killing the American dream. I lived in another country, a beautiful country with wonderful people, no poverty to speak of, but small businesses cant start up because everything would need licensure from the government and its prohibitive in one way or another. Here, a guy can grab some paletas (popsicles) and throw them into an iced pushcart and start up. A family can pool together and buy a small donut shop, work 24 / 7 in shifts, and put their kids through college.
If we take away the ability for middle class small business through taxation so that the less hardworking among us never go hungry, we deplete what is us!
Yes. Depends on the country, it’s not just taxes but the complex labor laws. You can’t really start a small business with 1 or 2 employees if you have to give them both 6 weeks paid vacation, and if you have to have good cause to fire them/replace them, and when you do you have to pay them 6 months wages etc. Some places you can’t have independent contractors - the ‘contractor’ has to form a business of his/her own and sign a contract with you, which makes even doing businesses like selling to other businesses that much more complicated.
So while those places need to roll back some of their laws, we are making our more complicated. California has basically outlawed uber/grubhub type crowdsourced work - well that’s going to court and if they lose they will probably figure a way around it. But there are things like burger flipping machines, and the fast food kiosks (McDonalds just paid a lot of money for Israeli made drive-through kiosks that understand languages - no need for a human to listen and type the order just speak into the box). I saw a $100,000 automated dish-washing machine. Seems like a lot of money but you’re paying 2 people $15/hour for 12 hours a day that machine will pay for itself in 2 years and never be late for work or call in sick or need a last minute replacement.
