The first illness was recognized in April and accelerated in July. It’s now November.
It’s not an unreasonable amount of time for the CDC to investigate.
If they had pointed to the wrong thing, people would be claiming heads should roll too.
The CDC in this case is danged if they do and danged if they don’t. The FDA warned people that nobody knew the long-term effects of the chemicals in vaping. And the chemicals vary.
People didn’t want the CDC or FDA to require testing.
So they basically said use at your own risk.
This was bound to happen. And will almost certainly happen again.
"If the Trump administration or Congress moves ahead with a ban on e-cigarette flavors, the only e-cigarettes left in America will be in tobacco flavors sold by tobacco companies.
Thanks for the ping.
Tobacco companies which have waged a non-stop war because the vaping industry, which is predominately a Mom and Pop (small company/niche product) business, cuts into their profits.
Seems like someone is trying to use the heavy hand of the government to generate revenues.
The integrity of the CDC has been comprised.
That is a huge problem.
...compromised...
The FDA is on it with regulations...
Listing of Ingredients in Tobacco Products
bingo
This is about the CDC helping the FDA rake in cash for the DNC.
Science has been zombified by the leftist long march through the institutions.
It is now used as a club to pound the masses into submission to the elites.

Read yesterday about a move to ban the descriptors ‘science-based’ and ‘evidence-based’ from climate papers and discussions.
Massachusetts has outlawed vaping and is taking aim at a ban on all flavored tobacco products including a ban on MENTHOL cigarettes.
No more Kools, no more Newports ... really? Those are popular.
I cant wait to see the black market that arises around menthol cigarettes. I can see vans loaded to the gunwales with Newports, sold (at a profit) by the carton.
And I can also see people defending the smugglers and not the cops.
It has been moving in that direction for quite some time. Some scientists have forgotten to put ethics as the cornerstone of their pursuits. It has become a chase for image, prestige, and that sort of thing.
Don’t vape, don’t worry,
Be happy.
I disagree. Juul, for instance, was bought out by Altria the huge cigarette manufacturer. (which is why lawyers are going after Juul - the deep pockets of Altria).
Also consider that older smokers, many with pre-existing lung issues, switched to e-cigs and if they died within a year or three, it was chalked up to smoking. Now we’re dealing with much younger lungs, like 11yo’ds and 14yo’ds, so it’s not so easy to chalk things up to a lifetime of smoking. So, saying that ecigs have been around a decade and have no effects may likely be a false assumption. Two of the effects widely known are skin problems and cotton mouth worse than tokers. (Did you know that PG and Glycerine are used to tan hides? and the effects of PG and glycerine as moisturizers actually results in dryer skin? So what does that do to developing lungs over time?) Consider also, students sneaking vapes in class, waking up to vape, a vape stuck to their face all day, power-vaping, etc., is not ‘smoker’ behavior. Most smokers are not chain-smokers and can easily go two hours or more before a smoke break, many don’t reach for a cigarette the moment they wake up, and it’s rare to ‘sleep smoke’. But we’re seeing all that behavior in kids. If kids are so orally fixated they need to vape, they need a behaviorist, not a Juul.
The CDC is not being entirely truthful, tho in making Vit E the main culprit. Recall a few weeks ago they identified cyanide, a combustion product of a fungicide/insecticide used on grapes and other produce. That seems to have been buried quickly. Then there’s neem oil which is a oil - likely the cause of chronic vomiting in tokers. No mention of that?
Illicit weed growers, that is, pop-up operations that grow for black market only (pot shops won’t accept non-lab-tested pot for sale), don’t care what they use for pest control or fertilizer as long as they can produce a crop as cheaply as possible in 3-4 months. I live in an area where pop-ups are proliferating and destroying neighborhoods. Forget Sat night toking - teens and young adults not vaping have joints glued to their faces and are nowhere near as mellow-yellow as the tokers of old. I’ve seen some of these illegal grows and you couldn’t pay me enough to smoke what they are producing. It’s definitely not the ‘artisan quality’ we’ve enjoyed for decades and in some cases downright dangerous (think goats chased out of their shed so the shed can be used to hang and dry product - or my favorite, the crop grown on top of a septic leech field. Yum.). Call it ‘cultural differences’. Or ignorance. Or greed. Or hatred. Or Revenge. But it’s not your daddy’s pot, that’s for sure. The states, in their rush to hoard all that pot cash, have failed to direct that windfall into eradicating these illegal operations. And so we will continue to have illicit growers producing dangerous pot, and circumventing legal pot shops’ regulations by distilling it down to potvape cartridges sold on the black market - with naïve Americans thinking that everyone has their values, but they don’t and they won’t until the states shake themselves out of their smoke-induced delusions and get real about the industry.
Almost 100% of the Vape injuries come from people who are trying to “smoke” recreational drugs.
That has been public knowledge for at least one month.
This entire fiasco has been consciously created by American tort lawyers - probably the same lawyers who just rang the cash register on “opioids” and “Roundup.”
The opioid “crisis” involves a fraction of 1% of the people who are legitimately prescribed opioids.
Roundup has been in commercial use for 50 years - and suddenly, in 2019, it became a deadly poison.
The only widely used commercial product that makes me sick is the utterly corrupt American legal system.
You certainly can refill cartridges and it is not even that hard, that is the problem with the lung injuries. Anything like mineral oil could be used with whatever additives they want. Truly recipe for disaster
If you know how to MacGyver a disposable e-cig cartridge without mangling it, I’d like to hear it.
I was able to quit smoking after 40 years with vaping as an alternative. It gave me the ability to gradually decrease the amount of nic. delivered down to the point that I no longer feel like I need it. It has worked for millions of others too.
Big tobacco is behind this smear campaign to eliminate the competition as they realize that an entire generation is turning their backs on cigarettes. They can no longer count on a new crop of consumers, our children to become enslaved. We have broken free from their control of us. And also follow the money in the tobacco settlements and find that some states didnt want to wait for their money and decided to issue tobacco bonds to spend the money now. Well those bonds are worthless as sales of tobacco products plummet.
Thinking back, there was not a single valid health related problem reported the entire time I have been off cigarettes and vaping until this recent coordinated disinformation campaign began. And then just like clockwork the fake news media all began reading the same talking points and spreading the same false flag info. I would not be surprised to learn that big tobacco didnt make those deadly bootlegged THC vape cartridges and distribute them knowing people would be injured just to create this exact crisis. This is just a new twist on the same old game, false flags and brainwashing the heard.
Wake UP America!
