Whatever Hunter did doesn’t look good.

And its the baby mama and her lawyers who are after him, not Trump.

His actions reflect on Dad, too.

It’s “CrowdStrike”, not “CloudStrike”.

Why the latest theory about the DNC not being hacked is probably wrong https://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/346468-why-the-latest-theory-about-the-dnc-not-being-a-hack-is-probably-wrong

This counters the assertion that the files were copied too fast to have been a foreign hack.

This article makes some good points, but also makes the same mistake they accuse the opposing theory of making. They say:

A blogger named “The Forensicator” analyzed the "last modified" times in one set of documents released by Guccifer 2.0. Based on the size of the documents and the times they were downloaded, Forensicator calculated that a hacker was able to copy the files at a speed of more than 20 megabytes per second.

That is faster than consumer internet services in the United States can upload documents.

As a result, Forensicator concluded that the documents could not have been copied over the internet. Instead, someone with physical access to the network must have copied them in person to a USB drive, the blogger concluded.

“This theory assumes that the hacker downloaded the files to a computer and then leaked it from that computer,” said Rich Barger, director of security research at Splunk. But, said Barger and other experts, that overlooks the possibility the files were copied multiple times before being released, something that may be more probable than not in a bureaucracy like Russian intelligence.

Yes, but the files could also have been copied multiple times after Seth Rich handed the files off to the Russians or someone else, so this proves nothing either way.

They continue:

Even if there were no other scenarios that would create the same metadata, experts note that metadata is among the easiest pieces of forensic evidence to falsify. It would be far more difficult to fabricate other evidence pointing to Russia, including the malware only known to be used by the suspected Russian hackers, and internet and email addresses seen in previous attacks by that group.

This is nonsense. Any professional hacker has access to tools that can fabricate this:

What we know from Vault7, Year Zero so far. . .•The CIA can fake the fingerprint origin of a hack to make it look like it came from a foreign agent hacker or country.: Wikileaks Vault7 Exposes CIA Deep State Hacking Capabilities

The article continues:

John Bambenek, threat systems manager at the security firm Fidelis, noted that while home internet, where uploads are much slower than downloads, would not allow that speed, corporate and cloud networks could do so. The DNC would not provide details about its upload speeds in July of 2016.

Curious that the DNC would be unwilling to disclose that.

The article goes on:

Proponents of the Forensicator theory have accused CrowdStrike co-founder Dmitri Alperovitch of being biased against Russia, negating his firm’s analysis.

Which he obviously is, given his history. But more to the point, he is a long-time U.S. intelligence asset, who worked with the FBI for years and at one time held special employee status with the Department of Defense.

The article adds:

But CrowdStrke was not the only firm to conclude Russia was behind the attack.

Other companies independently discovered evidence that linked the attacks to the same culprit. SecureWorks found an improperly secured URL shortening account used by Fancy Bear while investigating other attacks by the group. That account contained evidence of nearly 4,000 phishing attacks Fancy Bear waged against Gmail addresses — the attack that ensnared Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s email account among them.

In the end, Fidelis, FireEye, SecureWorks, Threat Connect and other CrowdStrike competitors all confirmed Crowdstike’s results.

This is a circular argument, as the other companies were dependent on CrowdStrike's data; and it conflates various hacks with "Fancy Bear", a designation invented by CrowdStrike to group multiple hacks under the same alleged umbrella: The name "Fancy Bear" comes from a coding system security researcher Dmitri Alperovitch uses to identify hackers.: Fancy Bear In the end, this whole house of cards still depends on CrowdStrike's credibility, which is in question.

Finally, the counter-argument ignores multiple witnesses stating that Seth Rich leaked the files, as well as Seymour Hersh's statement that he has seen an unreleased FBI report to that effect.

Its very possible. This has been done before. This was kind of the interesting thing about this post at PJ Media.. they were tamping it down.

Perhaps this is a vehicle to another shut up because “debunked” or just to inoculate some coming nightmare which is similar but not as fantastic as this.

I have had to deal with this before. At least for me the choice was shut it down and hand it over, or wipe it and move on. If I made an image, they couldn’t make a case of it because it was my word this was the image. Its call chain of custody. CrowdStrike is an interested party who has a vested interest in covering up their own issues.

Trump was accused of seeking the Russians to release the Clinton emails, not the DNC.. He was accused of knowing (a week) in advance about the DNC emails not with asking Russia to fetch them. I think this is how these two stories have been deliberately conflated. The bigger problem is that the most damaging leak of DNC stuff came from Podesta who was hacked by a stupid phishing scheme.

A couple of points for you to look at with respect to CrowdStrike.

https://popularresistance.org/firm-hired-by-dnc-has-ties-to-hillary-clinton-a-ukrainian-billionaire-and-google/

This establishes the link between CrowdStrike and Ukraine by more than just the nationality of one of its officers but via the Atlantic Group which is a major player in this game.

And I posted an article from RealClearInvestigations that goes into the flaws with Crowdstrike’s methods.

Clowdstrike “told the FBI” that they believed the server was “hacked by the Russians” and the FBI said... sounds good to me.

Meanwhile, someone brought up the point that file download time was too short to have been done over the net..as we don’t have that fast of bandwidth yet... so the person had to have physical access to the machine.

Enter Seth Rich. Exit Seth Rich. Clowdstrike goes public for $2billion. And the band plays on.

EXCELLENT POST.

This is exactly where we are in USA (and world) politics. Truth is highly endangered. Info is only proffered as evidence for one side’s win or the other. This info, paraded about as hard evidence, has a minor association with truth.

Uh.. yea.. there are physical machines, always. And, if the "cloud server" was based in the Ukraine well that squares things up

Thank you for deobfuscating this media dodge.

As an example, I have a cloud server instance I use for development. It resides on a server located in Denmark. A cloud server instance does not mean no physical location.

Yea.. but this has another side. This header info really only records an instance, not necessarily the instance where this file was copied. Not strong enough when you look at it from the other direction.

The issue with the DNC hack is that the Democrats would be cheering if it was one of them and this was a Republican server. The whole Russian deal is a cover for their own corruption.

I thought Crowdstrike was the company ranked to investigate security breaches of the DNC system rather than Hillary’s home-brew server.

No?

As I posted earlier today it occurred to me last night several hundred million bucks blown on hookers and coke in a few years doesn’t really sound plausible when you stop and think about it. I don’t think it can be done. But all the Rats “project” and I have heard Biden accuse Trump of being blackmailed a number of times. Was the Biden family being blackmailed? I think we need to know!

Of course the Bidens are being blackmailed. Its one reason among many that Obama will not endorse Biden.
